Hulls headscarfs heros

Just watched it on iplayer and knew nothing about this, absolutely amazing story and I feel bad that I knew nothing of this before I watched it.

 

TV at it’s best.

 

For those that cannot access it from overseas. I was working for a trawler owner at the time so know the story well. Looking back, Mike Burton who was the trawlers owners representative, who I knew very well, comes across so patronising, but in the day no one batted an eyelid.

 

Yeah the thread needs a clean up.

 

By ‘usual Herbert’ I assume we mean the person who took it off topic to criticise the amount of money paid to a tv presenter.

I heard an interview with Mark Herman on Burnsy's show last year where he said that he was making a drama for ITV about it - has it been scrapped?

 

That rings a bell with me. I'm sure I heard the company that made the Sarah Lancashire drama Happy Valley were involved.

 

That is going to be brilliant.

 

I know it was discussed at the time, but the Last Testament Of Lillian Bilocca at Guildhall was incredible. Literally spine chilling and one of the most emotional pieces of theatre I’ve ever seen

I hope it comes back, or goes on tour somehow (the venue was so important that might not work well though)

 

Is there a similar campaign to get the Allams on the honours list?

I was expecting to see Steve Terry mentioned in this instead of a bunch of ladies, he was my head band hero

 

A new documentary is being planned entitled Hulls Raghead ****s.

 

I finally watched this tonight and it was brilliant.

Must have had some onions nearby because I kept having to dry my eyes.

What a force of nature Lillian was and what trauma those men went through every day at sea.

I'll never forget about this and I'm definitely going to read the books.

Really hope there is a tv drama about this that brings it to national attention.

The look of disdain Lilian had in her face for the sneering southern media was a sight to behold.
