Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been chasing Inter Milan full-back Davide Santon.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal have also been tracking the Italy international this summer.

Inter have made it clear they may be ready to listen to offers for the 20-year-old, and Italian sources say there has been strong interest from England.

Newcastle have come closest to striking a deal for a player who has been tipped for big things and Inter are ready to negotiate.

Can play on both sides and apparentely an attacking full back. Would be a great signing, but cannot see why he would join us and how willing Ashley will be to part with a significant amount of money.

 

This would be sensational, but if we would only get him on loan then we should pursue Cissokho or Pieters.

Wouldnt be cheap either.

He is still easily good enough for us. Not getting past Maicon at RB, or Zanetti/Chivu? at LB I suppose. I dont think they would let him go though, which is why I think we would only get him on loan.

 

Dont know for sure but since it's a red-top you can assume a lot of it is fabricated ****e.

Santon has been mentioned before by other sources though.

I reckon he was being looked at as an alternative to Pieters, but it now looks as if we will get Pieters so this is a no go in all likelihood

That said, it's good we have a backup if PSV and Lyon remain determined to extort us, and this guy looks quality both for now and for the future.

 

I signed him on FIFA11, and he is awesome (rated 91 overall after 3 seasons of the game).

But, why would we sign a RB, not a LB? The Mirror are just proving they know nothing and are just embarrassing themselves even further than they need to. Please stop, NOW.

 

This was dicussed on a another thread the other week before we were linked with him. We were suggesting a sneaky loan bid may be worthwhile give he has no hope of getting past Maicon and had to be loaned to Cesena. Be a great signing and plays both sides comfortably. Primarily a right back though. I think we came to the conclusion it would be highly unlikely. We now know it isn't going to happen because the Mirror have gone to print!

yes they loaned him out and are open to offers and he is that good would want him over the others

well reading all the crack apparently we're in advanced stages with him and have put a upped offer in for pieters as well would be great if we got both but i'd be happy with either or,also we've been told to up our offer for the spinal failure but i think that might be done and dusted

 

If this lad turns up in a NUFC shirt before 1st Sep, then my hat would be very much tipped in the direction of Graham Carr and even Dirty Del. Top young player. Make Simpson look like a pub player.
