Two ex-professional footballers are facing jail for scamming £5million from schools and colleges through a bogus sports leadership scheme. Hampshire's Sparsholt College was one of the victims of former Wales international Mark Aizlewood, 57, and Paul Sugrue, 56 - whose past clubs include Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City - promised to help struggling youngsters gain an NVQ in activity leadership. They told colleges across the country they would provide full-time training in football coaching as well as work experience and a £95 weekly stipend to 3,800 students. But in reality, hundreds of the students on their books didn't even exist, many lived at the opposite end of the country from the training scheme, while others were doing just two to three hours of study a week. Today Aizlewood was convicted of one count and Sugrue of two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation by offering the non-existent apprenticeships through their firm Luis Michael Training Ltd at Southwark Crown Court in London. Aizlewood was acquitted of a second court of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation. The pair - along with fellow directors Keith Williams, 45, and Christopher Martin, 53 - submitted false accounts to colleges to persuade them to do business with the firm. They promised the colleges it was the perfect opportunity for "NEETs", or youngsters not in employment, education or training, to gain a qualification. Williams was also convicted of two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation. Football coach Jack Harper, 30, was convicted of fraud and using a false instrument. He was acquitted of another count of conspiracy to commit false representation. Martin admitted two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation ahead of trial, along with Stephen Gooding, 53, who admitted one charge. Judge Michael Tomlinson described the case as "very serious" and adjourned sentencing until February 26. The company enrolled suitable apprentices to claim money from the colleges, which in turn received funding from the Government-run Learning and Skills Council (LSC), later renamed the Skills Funding Agency (SFA). Gooding and Harper, who were employed in the business, helped funnel new learners into the scheme. Some of the bogus students were sourced from a summer football camp run by Harper, who secretly enrolled students to apprenticeships without their knowledge or consent. When the scam unravelled, the Skills Funding Agency demanded its money back, leaving large deficits in the budgets of many schools. Aizlewood denied any wrongdoing, telling the jury he had been preoccupied by his late wife's spiralling mental health problems before her suicide in June last year. He told the court he had neither the "time or inclination" to carry out such a complex fraud during the period.
Yes PH did a great job with a very limited budget he lost his best players to Swansea and Aston Villa and made do with cast offs .He still beat us last year and I for one will wish him well For god sake give the lad a chance I have already noted doom and gloom already having his knife out

Heckingbottom has a great record in Division One as a caretaker boss, Redfearn also had a great record as a caretaker boss. In this division as a permanent boss on a rolling contract he has an abysmal record.
He was on a losing streak when sacked and had a massively bigger budget. All questioned how he got a premier league job after being sacked by a championship club. Maybe Heck can do better with better players is all I was getting at (if we have better players of course).

What the stats don't tell you is he took a team in the bottom 3 of the first division and transformed them over night having taken over from Lee Johnson and gained promotion.He then took Barnsley to 7 just after Christmas and then lost 5 of his best players to Villa Swansea etc .With no money to spend the results were not good but he never complained He's English and a well repected coach particularly of young stars of the future I wish him well
The fact that Leeds are a one city club, the fact that in the 70's and 80's Leeds were the only Yorkshire side that had any success and the fact that Leeds have support all over the country i would expect nothing less.
Also 13 clubs to choose from, many highly successful so not many glory hunters at the Den, just real passionate fans.

I would say Chelsea, yes,Arsenal and Spurs slightly successful,the rest you're pushing it,with most like millwall crappy little clubs,not many glory hunters no,in fact not many of fans full stop and a lot less when it comes to traveling.
In Leeds' case the fact that they have more fans than most other clubs just means more people are upset when little side beat them, as stats prove it doesn't matter how many fans you have in the stands on the pitch it is 11 verses 11(or 10 when Leeds are playing)
