What did we think about him following his debut last saturday ? It's probably because of the general feeling of 'depression' after the result, but his performance hasn't been mentioned on here, and I thought that he was our best player against Ipswich. For me, and especially in the second half, he stood out, and he seemed to be 'a class above' the rest . . . . he seemed like he had loads of time on the ball, time to think, and it looked relatively easy for him. The only problem to me was him using this time looking for options that weren't there, and hopefully this week getting to know the lads properly will help them to understand each other, and to appreciate his obvious (to me) ability. My first impression is that he could have the keys to unlock this league's defences once the others realise that they can gamble with their movement and trust him to 'find them' even if that's not 100% of the time. Anyway, I was greatly impressed with him, and the new Norman Stanley seems to have 'a bit about him' as a centre forward, too, so I am encouraged by some of what I saw on saturday I'm obviously focussing on small scraps of positivity, and I expect my unwavering 3-1 win prediction to earn me (as well as the lads) 3 points against The Robins on saturday (or even 8 points if the aforementioned Norman Stanley scores first, too) p.s. reading this again, even I think that I must have been drinking
I'm finding it hard to recall the match from a neutral perspective because it was so gutting but yeah he does have something about him and he does have that ability to take his time on the ball and pick a pass which we've been sorely lacking. First twenty minutes there was a lot of good play coming through him, he went missing somewhat after that but you could see there's quality there. He's not as skinny as I thought either or if he is he's got some strength at least, he was holding them off well with his back to them.
Agree with everything you said about Ejaria. A number of times he broke away from his marker and ran at their defence with the ball at his feet. He then passed to a team mate and carried on running, pointing to where he wanted the return pass, which never came, while the player with the ball was stood tapping it from foot to foot, looking for someone else to pass to
The description sounds like my take on M'Vila, and is the exact opposite of another of our mid field players so revered on this board.
He looked very comfortable on the ball, which you’d expect from a Liverpool player, and he was trying to make things happen going forward. He does look like he needs feeding like.
Both TOO MUCH TOO YOUNG for me, tidy impact players who look much better than Honeyman and Gooch first impressions technically but too lightweight for this league. I think Colemans mis judged it.
