Nolan Roux

Rumours on twitter that he has an €8m release clause and the club are willing to pay to get him.

Anyone heard anything about this guy? He's good on fm, but don't really know in real life

 

Must admit Ive not seen much of him. I did hear Phillipe Auclair says he is one of the Ligue 1 players he thinks could make the step up no problem. A lot of people rate him and I would be all for a move for him ahead of Maiga and Erdinc on reputation.

 

Failry good goalscoring record but hasn't played for long period at top level. Not the biggest but puts himself about, quite skillful but has a touch of the Andy Cole about him (5 chances:1 goal ratio) from what I've seen

 

From what I've seen of him in French football he's a good little player and at 23, can only improve.

Fairly quick and good with the ball at his feet, reminds me a little of Gameiro to be honest.

 

Good player, glad were finally linked with him.

It's not a get out clause as far as I know, their chairman is resigned to losing him this season though and said he'd not accept anything lower than €8 million that's all. That's when Shalke were about to buy him early in the summer. Before then he was linked with tottenham and then the bin dippers.

The move should be a lot easier to finalise than other apparent targets though... Unless it's just a ploy to get Rennes to sell maiga.

I'd prefer Roux though, he was one of the star strikers last season even when playing for Brest.

 

A few people were raving about him earlier in the window, don't know anything myself though.

 

Maybe our French fancy has turned in to a "x in your name" obsession too. That would be Marveaux, Roux and Xisco all on our books!!!

 

More importantly, how good is he on FIFA?

Also, I think its odd we've been openly chasing so many strikers. My cynical side tells me its all a smoke screen for Carlton Cole.

 

He has been described as a little Suarez. Apparently a big talent and prospect.

 

Not a bad description, obviously not as good as Suarez yet, he's still raw, but definitely has the attributes to succeed.

It's Sochaux, not Rennes. Marveaux was from Rennes.

I think we should sign him but my reasons are probably not considered very strong. I simply think having a chant to the the tune of voulez vouz by ABBA makes it worthwhile. St James freaking out to some quality eurodisco from the late 70's/early 80's would be a sight to behold.

 

Don't agree with that. There are plenty strikers that if we signed I would be unhappy. Using Carlton Cole as an example, I would rather give Ranger,Shola,Best,Lovenkrands and Ba a go rather than wasting money and wages on him, players like crouch also fall into that bracket.

The striker we bring in has got to be quality or we are best just sticking with what we have got. No point in signing someone for signings sake!!!

 

Sorry, yeah it was Sochaux i meant Part of me just doesnt want to piss Sochaux off too much, because i'd love to bid for Boudebouz or Martin in the future lol.

I also meant the season before last for Roux, last season he wasnt as good but then Brest were pretty awful too.

Roux might be a better match for us than Maiga seams... Roux is fast, at least off the ball, and always gets himself in good positions. Not really a finesse striker, mostly just power in them. Sort of sounds like a pacey Darren Bent i guess?

Maiga formed a sweet partnership with Ideye Brown last season though and they managed 30+ goals between them, so maybe he's better if we're going for a 4-4-2? Id prefer Roux over him in a 4-5-1 though.

I cant see Sochaux selling Maiga after already letting Brown go though havent they?

 

Haha!! That would be class!! That's got to be the reasoning for getting him, and anybody who has Nolan on their top will be able to just get roux underneath it!

 

Never thought about that angle. I think its decided, with the ABBA chant link and the shirt savings its gotta happen.
