Leeds have announced they are going after the Barnsley boss, and will activate his release clause ... expected to be in by tomorrow ... won 1 in last 16 at the Tykes, very uninspiring choice ... this is the same bloke who said he hates Leeds, and who fired up his Barnsley team so much against Leeds that they were over emotional and forgot to play football received a text from my Sky presenter friend (she's on now) saying their info is that it's a done deal, just sorting out compensation ... be fcuking hilarious if this got scuppered at the last minute WTF???
Happy with this at least it's someone with championship experience and not some obscure name from the back of beyond, he'll also have an idea of what rivalries mean to us supporters so we might even win a derby or two. Did a good job with Barnsley before having his squad sold from under him. I'm sure he's not come here to be a yes man and will have input into player recruitment. Think what ever the ins and outs of his appointment rads has got to give him the tools to do the job. Good look to him
This is an uninspiring choice out of the possible champ manager they could have got a better choice. Granted I am happy that we've not an unknown manager from the Continent or further a field
If this is correct i for one are very disappointed and have to think deeply over parting with my hard earned cash at LS11
Unfortunately this is the calibre of manager we now attract. On the plus side, hes English, knows all about Leeds and our recent history and at least hes in a job and not on the dole so someone else rates him. Should know the attitude required in the Championship and type of players needed in summer, no more little fairy type lads. Agree its uninspiring but a lot better than a foreign nobody from the Luxembourg or Cypriot leagues. Problem of course is how much say hell have in future signings
To be fair I was at the time totally uninspired by the appointment of Howard Wilkinson and he didn't do too badly so if it is the Barnsley boss then he could prove to be a very good appointment Would have preferred Lee Johnson of Bristol City but they're flying high so not much chance of him coming to Leeds at this moment
I’m going to tell myself he’s another Mick Mc Until he opens his mouth and sounds like a clueless eejit There, that’s set the bar low, now I won’t be too disappointed
please log in to view this image Its official, spread the word,Mike Basset has the Leeds United job and he said he will play 4-4 Fecking 2
I have to say if it is a done deal it is not exactly inspiring. However, I have no real feasible alternative so will just have to see how it goes. He is right up against from the off with the team as it stands - no real defenders left, inconsistent keeper, strikers who couldn't score in a brothel so no doubt he will do well if he prevents us from getting involved in a relegation battle to be honest. Oh how the mighty have fallen!
disagree with the "calibre of manager we attract now" Eire ... I can promise you there would have been a pile of quality applicants for the job, thing is it seems Leeds have been considering Hecky for a while now ... Leeds is still seen as one of the TOP jobs in England, but looks like Radz is going for a hungry young manager who knows this league ... that's fine, but I would have thought that getting a manager in who will be able to cope in the Prem after promotion would have been a priority ... still think Marco Silva would have been spot on, but Hecky it is so let's see how he goes ... not my choice by a long way, but I'll support him and give him a chance
£400,000 release clause triggered heck-thump on his way to Leeds now for personal deal to be confirmed, looks like we have a new guy, but hardly inspiring choice, yet someone like Orta has done some work as it must have been easier to sign a manager who didnt have a job, rather than find one who would cost us half a million quid? Orta lives or dies on this I have to support him but fk knows who he is or what he knows what hes done or what he looks like
Not inspiring. At least he knows the league, not that he has been getting results of late. I doubt he will start well with our injuries and suspensions so bang goes another season. I'll still back him but think hes right up against it.
