The fact that this is a matter of opinion shows how stupid the Offside Law is.

    No.
What do you think Lovren was trying to do? Get out of the way? He didn't deliberately kick the ball to Kane, but he definitely deliberately played it.

Decent match with two world-class goals, two shocking penalty decisions and rightly shared points. Salah's second was reminiscent of Suarez at his best.

Exactly. If a player plays a through ball to an attacker who is offside when the ball is played then offside should be given if the ball reaches that player as part of the same immediate passage of play.

It was a terrible penalty. I could have stopped that.

Because of the **** rules, the offside can be debated all day long. Fact is, it didn't matter because Karius saved the penalty.

The referee needs to be dealt with for ignoring the offside despite not knowing if Lovren touched it.

He won't be, though. Because Lovren did touch it, so it was an act of genius on the ref's part. Ask any of our visitors. :)

I'm not sure. I think the wording is open to interpretation.
Of course, Lovren tried to clear the ball, but what happens in situations when it's not so clear-cut? "Deliberate" is synonymous with "intent" - another situation that requires a judgement call from the ref.
And the fact remains that he made the call without even knowing that Lovren had touched it, so what happened to the "I didn't give it because I didn't see it clearly" stuff that they wheel out when they miss something?

Either way - it was the right call (disregard how they came to that conclusion). But they still missed.

Lovren deliberately went for the ball and that is why Kane is ruled onside.

Him making a hash of the interception has no relevance.

It is harsh because he wouldn’t be under pressure had Kane not been in an offside position in the first place.

What’s annoying is how players like Wanyama seem to score worldies against us! Jaigelka did the same as well.

Players who have no right scoring such goals seem to find joy :(

I find it amusing that so many are screaming for VAR because it "eliminates" controversy when the offside rule is such a dog's ****ing breakfast that it needlessly creates it.

Which is why the rule says Kane should not be awarded an advantage if it were applied correctly

Ref did more than that imo.

There was a reds fan on 606 also last night saying the ref was great all game.

IMO he basically reffed as if he was in scottish league. It was ridiculous the amount of clear pushes in the back before headers he simply ignored. Spurs started it and we joined in. thats not about allowing a game flow TBH... thats just stupid.

he also allowed spurs to be quite aggressive in midifeld with sissoko but of course our lot are not subtle so they pushed guys over and got dinged.

he was also inconsistent with the cards and high boots.

then he clearly gets told its not a pen then gives it without knowing who touched the ball... AND kane dived too.

But of course he had booked alli earlier for a clear dive so was prob evening it up in his mind somehow.

TBH i think spurs research shows karius picks a direction and dives and i think kane set himself up telegraphing where it should go and hoped he was diving and he was trying to dink it down the middle and look a hero for goal 100.

He made himself look a total dick

but the press is all kane saves spurs and how great he is despite being offside at every free spurs took costing them, being anonymous totally, missing a pen and well.... being absolutely handed it on a platter

i don't mind the english love in BUT salah score two blinders there yesterday and deserves some credit.
