The amount we paid for anyone is totally irrelevant. Any team requires a goal scorer (Bowen/Campbell ?) and creative players who can pick a pass (Toral, Evandro ?). I do mean a pass that is of the appropriate pace and to a position where the player does not have to break stride to control it, not some hopeful nearly ball in the general direction of a shirt. In the main the rest can be runners, dogs, fighters who can read the game, run into space to provide options, defend, tackle and when the ball is retrieved pass it to a player who can play. They also need to be an effective team with motivation to win or at least not lose. Obviously the more capable the players are the more we can play at a pace that will worry the opposition. I cannot see that in this squad. Yes it starts from the top. The club is rotten. If Adkins can keep us in this division it really will be the miracle of miracles.
why would anyone want to stay in this Allam ****-up fest - that's McGregor linked to Chelsea, probably bollocks - Dawson, Grosicki, Larsson Hernandez want out - Bowen will go - cant see Keane wanting to stay once he gets up to speed - all the loanees will go back - we'll be lucky to have 8 players - at least the Allams can pocket the money saved on wages
I know he might lack the energy but I think evandro can be a massive help for us in this struggle, what he lacks in energy he gains massively with calmness and precision on the ball. Play him in the middle with Larsson who has more energy than the energiser bunny and he can make up for it.
The squad is not good enough. Good enough for what? Automatic promotion? Top six? A relegation fight? I would argue all three and have done since the end of the summer transfer window. I sincerely hope I am proved wrong with regard to the good enough for a relegation fight. I would never have been proved wrong with regards to the other two but that is largely irrelevant given our current position and in light of the fact that all those who said it was good enough seem to have gone quiet.
Regarding the last point, I don't think anybody blames him for wanting to move , but you can blame him for fannying out of doing his job after it didn't happen
My worry with Evandro is that he takes too many touches and slows the play down. That’s clearly the opposite of how Adkins wants us to play, so Evandro might not fit in too well. Not that Adkins’ current plan is immune from criticism, of course.
Just a reminder that it is still not confirmed that Dawson refused to play, he may have been put on the naughty step or he could really be injured.
Players can't wait to get out of this club. That will become increasingly obvious the closer we get to the end of the season. We'll go down with a whimper I fear.
