We are a fair distance off it at the moment (maybe next year :bandit: <laugh>), Spurs could be a good call for semi's but I think they will end there unless a really good draw meets them.

Sanchez will help but I still don't think our backline is good enough, or that we can control top sides well enough. I think we still need a lot of work before we can be contenders again.

I don't think Liverpool have any hope either, even if you still had Coutinho. I think if you are one of the weaker sides in the tournament, in terms of overall quality, to have a chance of winning I think you need to be able to park the bus effectively. When you won it in 2005 you didn't have much quality going forward, but one thing you had was the ability to park the bus and nick results.

I just don't think it's possible to win the CL with a shaky defence, unless you've got a Barcelona quality attack which you don't have either.

I have worries about Sanchez, is he a team player?
I would have preferred us to go for another top midfielder in the Kante/Matic mould.
Sanchez played some great forward passes in his last game but also showed his propensity for twisting and turning and losing the ball, we don't need a man that want's/tries to do it on his own, we need team players.

That said, if he scores 10-15 goals in the next 13 league games I will be delighted <laugh>

well that is why no one on here bothers to call you a wum but as I stated, you can't be bothered to comment on your own team ( and I for one didn't think dropping Poggers was obvious, Jones yes) nothing worth talking about in the utd game (Sanchez's home debut) but you'll spend 6 hours here.

I would have dropped Smalling but it really didn't bother me too much with either, they both had a bad game previously (just can't play together, not bad with other partners).
Pogba was really poor and needed a kick up the arse.
Sanchez is just another good player in the squad, what's to talk about?

Yep, when you understand football there is little to argue about. The best you can do is try to educate others :emoticon-0100-smile

You'd think Utd were miles ahead of us and playing some great football if you go by Bert & Earnies posts on here.

If city gap decreases it's vital yet if Utd gap grows it's meaningless.

tbh... I'm not that worried about the bull.

    we didn't lose.

I'm more worried we faded so badly as in the past we have out worked this spurs side. not seen the stats but they were far stronger than us this time.

We had the better of the first half and they were better in the second, a point is fair enough. It was a good game.

The Utd pair want to pick holes in it but there's nothing to say really. Nobody had a terrible game two teams just played football, maybe that's what has confused them, the sight of entertaining football?

utd pair forget spurs made them look ordinary and we made spurs look ordinary for 60mins.

but the most interesting thing is how kane got all the plaudits after being useless for 89 mins. missing a pen and being caught offside constantly. scores a pen.. that's it.

salah scored a nice goal and before that a legally calm finish. and is not on 21 league goals with 12 to go.

    He might make 30.

True that. Spurs were lost first half and very good in the second. I thought they were worthy of the win overall tbh though, but a draw was also maybe a fair result.

Good game of togger, enjoyed it.

Moss made a judgement call on the basis of what he’d seen. He originally gave the pen and then didn’t change his mind. The Lino was unsure and the pair of them ****ed up by mentioning if the 4th official had seen a replay or not, as it wasn’t a VAR game. So Moss went with his original gut reaction. There’ll be no sanction for that, it happens every week.

He’ll get ****ed for the 4th official TV mention though.

As it goes, for me Lovren does play him onside, but then he dives over Karius, so he should have been booked for a dive.

The second one was a great call and a **** up by Van Dijk, so one scored one missed was bang on in terms of the result imo.
