If you see somebody else jump 2 foot high off the ground and straighten their leg studs first into another players face without receiving a red let me know, I will write to the FA and complain.

It's all about degree of endangerment and recklessness

I can only imagine what it is like being a referee and having to go to a place like Anfield. 40'000 scousers on your case all game <laugh>

In all honesty though I didn't think the referee had a poor game. There where a few 50/50s that could have gone the other way, but I thought the major decisions that impacted the result he got right.

There was a lot of drama with the chats with the linesman, and the linesman getting involved for the first penalty incident didn't do the ref any favours, as the penalty had already been awarded, so it was always going to be difficult for him to go back on his decision.

The 2nd penalty incident took some serious balls from the linesman to effectively overrule the referees initial view of it.

People always complain about linesman not getting involved often enough, but you can kind of understand why when they come under so much intimidation from players and coaching staff.

I'm not saying this is just Liverpool players, as I think most teams would put pressure on an official in the same situation.

It just seems to me that officials can't win, as they are always going to come under criticism from someone.

If a player says he was fouled he has a vested interest, if a player admits he committed a foul then why would you question him

Nope. They needed a once in a lifetime worldie and a bent ref to get a point. Spurs are a nothing club.

The pundits slagging him off for punching thatfirat is ridiculous. Yeah maybe he could of held it, but none of them are keepers so can’t speak from experience. If he’d tried grabbing it, popped out of his hand when he landed and handed a tap in then he’d be shot down.

His punchc wasnt great in that it went straight but he punched it 25 yards out and It went to Can who missed it then Ox was slow to react. To blame him for that goal is stupid.

Saved the pen, no chance wth 2nd pen. Made great save from Son plus one from Dembele in first half that he held onto.

Couple good punches from corners as well.. overall I didn’t think he did anything wrong in the game. Was solid

Blimey, carl, give it a rest mate. :)
We never said they weren't a danger and (almost) all of us wanted them to get a point from Utd - not points.
We're not just competing with them, and it's not a knockout - so you can't take the attitude of seeing them out of the race then move on to the next hurdle.

Diego is having fun tonight, he's posted more on here than on Utds Huddersfield thread.

    he loves us.

all the controversial things that happens in our games, its funny how if its against us how he likes to join in and make sure we know that, no matter what's happened, if it's against us it the ref was spot on.

he must watch our games in ultra hd with a slow-mo button just to make sure he doesn't miss anything so he can jump straight on here to make his "point"

    well done Diego. <applause>

I don't think you'd be hitting someone in the face if you jumped 2 foot to be honest. Unless you were playing midget football.

You had the edge in the first half, il give you that, but it was far from being dominant. Spurs definitely looked nervous, and your biggest fault was not fully capitalising on that.

Once Spurs settled into the game though, they really started to show that they are a technically superior side. 2nd half you could barely get a touch of the ball.

That's why us United supporters always have a good chuckle at you lot, as you can never admit when an opponent is better than you.

Looking at your team, the only player you have that would get in Spurs first 11 is Salah, and i honestly think man for man they are a technically much superior side to you. Now Coutinho has gone I really think you are massively lacking in terms of real quality. That was there for all to see in the 2nd half.

I think even if you compared Spurs to Man Utd, the only players that would get in for definite is De Gea. But that's a ****ty measure of how good a team is because both of us are above them so I can't see it meaning that much because football isn't played on paper, its played on grass.

They gave you a footballing lesson in midweek, the difference between us and you is we had the attacking quality to actually trouble their defence and rattle them, you barely troubled them for 90 minutes.

It's only a matter of time. Your lucky Chelsea are looking so poor at the moment, but I don't think you've got any hope of holding off Spurs.
