I saw a cycle ‘race’ a couple of months ago with people from blind institute riding Genuinely It was all tandems so I assume one on each bike could see, but **** me they were shifting...impressive
Are you sure it was a 'race' and not just the weekly ride? It tends to be Wednesday evenings, with the odd weekend jaunt.
its health and safety gone mad ... freedom of choice is an illusion ~ I blame Europe, the Loony Left & Right, MAMILS, the obesity crisis in Hull, lycra louts, chavs in hot hatches, Twockers, Brexiteers, Mouseketeers, The Allams, the Super Ferriby stadium, SKY, micromanaging NIMBYA63 drivers ... Let’s assume that something goes wrong. In a perfect world, nothing ever goes wrong but in an uncertain, complex, fast-paced and subject-to-the-influence-of-humans world, sometimes something goes wrong. If, when something goes wrong, we blame someone, that person focuses on either defending themselves or shifting blame to someone or something else. With the focus now on defense or blame-shifting, we do not focus on finding and fixing the process issues that really created the problem.
Bit OTT but I think something needed to be done. Not fun having slow moving lorries pulling out into your lane with little notice. I'd be happy enough if they coned off one lane and made the other 50mph limit during the time trial but you'd have to close the Brough and South Cave slip junctions.
No I’m not sure at all ( hence my use of ‘..’) I only used that word in the sense that they were loads of them and they were ****ing flying (not actually flying...you know what I mean) It was certainly a weekday evening
It annoys me people blame drivers for everything.... clearly there are some accidents and incidents due to cyclist being at fault. Same as drivers cause some accidents for cyclist. Stop being blind to the bigger picture and look at it from both sides rather than arguing your point. We all know there are some **** drivers, and there are some **** cyclists, stop blaming one solely for everything.
It mostly is drivers though. Look at the standard of driving? Speeding, checking phones whilst driving. Some ****er passed me the other day shaving in the car - ****ing shaving!
It's also the consequences, because it's nailed on that the cyclist will come off worse, no matter whose fault it is. There's a story that suggests the best safety device to fit on a car is a sharp spike from the centre of the steering wheel to the drivers chest, so they have a reminder to concentrate.
Trouble is it doesn't matter whether the driver or the cyclist is the ****wit. It's the cyclist that has to face the consequences. Beat me to it DMD
Given the numbers, it's incredible that only one seems to have hit anything...if what you say is actually true.
You are obviously a cyclist next time a race is organised drive down there a couple of times and see them weaving around in the last few yards and you will see how dangerous some of your colleagues are,
Thank ****. It'd only take a strong wind or a stray rock on the surface to send the rider into the road, I don't know why this has taken so long. It's mental. There are plenty of quieter roads to do it on.
I'm a car driver. It's why the highway code says cars should leave a lot of room when they pass a cyclist. Have a look at car drivers in general, and have a listen at some of the attitudes, then decide.
