He was offside before the ball is played but Lovren makes a complete hash of the interception and touches the ball. Therefore, Kane is no longer offside.

We shouldn’t be panic buying - we should have had a long list of targets draw up well in advance.

 

He was gash. Gotta laugh. He’s just not ever gonna be first 11 material. At best a useful sub. But given his sub form today, he should probably even consider going out on loan. Doesn’t know how to weight a pass and unable to receive two great passes, it’s pretty poor at this level.

Would you not say he's interfering with play by being in an offside position and forcing Lovren to make an attempt at playing the ball?

Doesn't help that Lovren manages to pick that one moment to **** up... he played well all game and then just 1 mistake again just causes issues. Same thing over and over with him.

 

But Kane interfered with play. Kane was only in that position because he was ahead of play and offside, if he wasn't Lovren would never have been put in the position to lunge for the ball.
Its similar to players interfering with play in front of the keeper, it could cause a keeper to dive the wrong way in anticipation solely because someone is in that position.

 

I think it’s stupid but it is the rules unfortunately - he got the last touch before it reached Kane. It’s a massive **** up.

Harsh on Ox. He came on for 20odd minutes where we were back to the walls defending. He had a couple of misplaced passes in their 3rd, but didn't exactly do much wrong.

More worried by Gini who came on at the same point but looked ****ed and didn't look like managed to make one simple sprint to close down Spurs midfield.

 

It was almost like he was sulking because he started on the bench. We really needed him to put a shift in but he failed to control a single pass ffs

 

In the end we are talking about referees again and we should not be. There were enough good chances for us to have been 3 up by half time and why did we let them dictate so much in the second half. I agree with many on here, the midfield is not up to 90 minutes and the squad needs better players

 

There is second, third, forth phases etc in the offside rule but there is one consistent part; is the offensive player interfering with play. If Kane wasn't in the original offside position, Lovren let's it run through to Karius and the second phase doesn't happen. It's offside irrelevant of the touch.

 

Not for the Jan window. The players we probably want are not available in the winter window.

Happy to see Karius is not being bashed I think he had a good game.

yeah we faded badly. getting the second goal was good bit of fight from salah.

we needed a couple goals first half tbh and were extremely wasteful with passing.
