So, after spending all day doing technicals for the panto dress rehearsal, I appear to have remained in Cloudland, although there is no sign of the giant. I quite like it in this parallel universe where Saints win!

West Brom update. Now sitting in a pub with a group of pissed off Baggies fans after a totally surreal day. Went to Cyrille's knees up, then got to the ground only for my mate to suggest that, in the absence of his son, I should use his st and go in the home end. Too many beers said yes. Nothing like being in the home end and conceding a 4th minute goal. Gentle West Midlands banter, then very large bloke behind me says:

"Do yow take sugar? I'll get you a kipper tea at the break."

Cue wonder goal, then Jack's great header. Further nudging.

"Change me mind. Yow can get your own ****ing tea".

We should have scored 74 (only slight hyperbole) and the win is costing me a bleeding fortune. Apparently it's my round again.

I can look forward to watching MOTD for the first time in months - well played Saints. And yes, Stephens for the England squad - why not. Last season, he got better and better with a run of games after DickVD`s injury. This season remember, he wasn`t getting a game at the start of the season. So he`ll keep improving, IMHO.

Who are Englands centre backs at the moment? Be very surprised if Stephens near the squad. It isn't Garth Crooks picking the team where anyone who scores gets in.

Also who is in their midfield? JWP has a better chance as wasn't he captain under Southgate for the u21s? I guess if they take about 8 midfielders in the squad he has a chance.

I don't know that Stephens has really been improving. They aren't going to take a CB on the basis of his goalscoring, and Stephens' defensive frailties have been on show an awful lot. As the sweeper in a back three, he could be interesting, but I don't see either ourselves or England going in that direction.

I suspect he wants to score and win with the team, he didn't hide his delight when JWP scored.

Undefeated in six games. Too bad we got so horrendously jobbed against Watford. If we hadn’t, I think people could look at our current situation a bit more objectively.

You can still look at goal difference and get some idea. We are not good. But we can easily avoid relegation if the team sticks together. Today was nearltpy a perfect win in that regard. Went down right away, but fought back to win. Held the lead during the last 10 or so minutes against what for WB counts as an all-out attack.

Then again, the game before this shows how uncomfortably thin the margin is as well. We could easily screw it up unless we stay focused.

I have been very impressed with McCarthy.
It’s great to have a keeper who will catch crosses, keep hold of shots and is well enough positioned to collect balls at the edge of the penalty area.

We need to be mindful how lucky we were with the pre match raffle this week. I would urge calm.

    MOTD running order: Ars/Eve, WBA/Sou, Bri/WHU, Bur/ManC, ManU/Hud, Bou/Sto, Lei/Swa. 7 games, 24 goals. Some crackers in there too. @BBCOne 10.30

Yeah agreed. I’ve never really been able to work that out. Think it’s because all your senses are tapped in, whereas with tv, radio, etc you’re not totally in & things can happen out of the blue but being there you know “it’s” coming, good or bad.

Great result, small part of me is worried that we managed to concede two simple goals to the worst team in the league but we also held solid when they really pressured us at the end. Massive 3 points and makes a huge difference to our situation.

    Well done MP.
