I was told categorically, that our signings had been completed a couple of weeks ago, but we now have an ex-Chelsea midfielder, an ex-Real Madrid midfielder and the Egyptian national keeper on trial, while also attempting to secure the services of another centre back and a striker. It may be that moving out of Bullard, Ghilas, Kilbane, Atkinson, Cullen(and likely departures of Gulasci, Harper and Oli) has simply freed up funds, but I wonder if there's also been a realisation by our generous benefactors, that we can't get away with trying to compete in this league on the cheap?
2+2 sometimes does = 4 Think it's definitely a combination o both factors mentioned, the freed up money and the early season form showing the need for additions. To be fair to them, like many City fans - me included, after seeing us in pre season, esp the Liverpool game, they must have been fairly confident with the squad we had that we'd be pushing the top 8 for most of the year
We're set to give Woods a contract, so I imagine that will mean that Fernandez will not sign. Although I suppose we could still accommodate both if we continue to play this ****ty 4-5-1 formation.
I've seen Woods play but not the spanish guy! From what I've seen of woods I think the fans will warm 2 him (whole hearted midfielder with a bit of quality)
I think so, though I can't remember where, assuming he is, I'd expect him to get a run out for the ressies tonight.
OLM do you know all the players that we are trying to bring in? (Keeper, CB, Striker) Just wondered if so, if you could tell us whether they are going to excite us.
No idea, other than the keeper is either going to be Guzan or El-Hadary. The others could be anyone, though Waghorn has to be fairly likely and obviously I'm still hoping the centre back will be Kilgallon.
i was always a bit concerned at this season Goalkeeper policy . I voiced concerns that altho Manonne paid off last season , i was firstly worried that it would happen with the Hungarian lad. The noises coming from Anfield were positive on him (also on the City forums) so i s'pose you gotta hope for the best. Secondly i was a bit concerned that our first choice keeper would be a loanee .I dont really go for that position being a loan slot personally - but it seems needs must . Now 4 games into the campaign it seems we are still in need of the same positions being filled as before the window kicked off. Goalie - CB - Someone to hold the ball up top and a playmaker in Midfield.
SSN are quoting Alex McLeish as saying that as his squad is very thin they'll be no outgoings from Villa. So it looks like El-Hadary is the more likely option than Guzan. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11677_7121939,00.html
Here she is! Must've been on holiday have you Doveston, it's been a while. All you do is moan moan ****ing moan. Personally, when it comes to signings, I don't take any notice of what anybody says until it's signed and sealed (and so ignore OLM just as I would anybody else, on principle). Maybe you should do the same, instead of making a poor attempt at attacking a person who is no doubt posting with the best of intentions.
