Art is fine. It works for Garfunkel. I am happy if the King bit gets ignored though . Being referred to as Art now would make me happier than the old use of Leo - but I can live with anything.
Just remembered, one of the questions was are you likely to get mad cow disease, she laughed loud and long when I said no, I divorced her! Not very pc but I couldn't help myself
Strange thing to ask though - I would have thought everyone of a certain age would possibly be likely. Around 30 years ago in Australia, I tried to donate blood & one of the questions was 'have you lived in the UK for six months or more since 1980?' When I answered yes, they wouldn't accept my blood - because they considered me at risk of mad cow disease. My son, who still lives there, told me around five years ago that they still use that screening question.
I must admit that I was surprised at the question, it's not been an issue for several years now. I have a friend who is called Davidson (surname) who gave birth to a daughter in 2001 and named her Carmen - Jade and was not concerned about the initials.
I mentioned this to the one who knows about such things here, and she told me that no one knows how long it can reside in someone. Hence any surgical instruments used have to be destroyed if there is any chance that someone can be infected. They will not take any blood from donors here from the UK. Having achieved a certain age they do not want mine anyway. Too thin and infused with red wine probably.
As some of you know my wife's first husband died of the human form of mad cow disease called variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD)--- he was a vegetarian..... but worked as a lab technician working on sheep and scrapie..... make of it what you will..
Must be cold down your way Frenchie - watching the Quevilly Rouen v Chateauroux match & all the players are wearing gloves...
It is cold, though they are a long way north of here. Snow being forecast for Paris over the weekend, and maybe a few flurries here Sunday.
Not too bad a standard really - probably not Championship equivalent, more League 1 I'd say. Certainly not as 'energetic' as the Highland League, which can be played at a frantic pace.
Someone from Compassion in World Farming said that cattle was a red herring on TV. If that's what steak tastes like now I am glad I have stopped eating meat!
Morning all, grey with just a hint that there is rain in the clouds up there, still no overnight frost. Need to try and find some car mats for my daughter's car as she would like some for her birthday. Plenty on the internet, but as she has a unusual model it might be difficult to find them in the shops.
