Sunderland host Ipswich Town in the Skybet Championship Last time out Sunderland lost at Birmingham while Ipswich lost at home to Wolves. Chris Coleman's side welcome Ipswich Town looking for a second consecutive home win following the 1-0 victory against Hull City. New signing Kazenga LuaLua could be set to make his first home appearance after coming off the bench in the defeat at Birmingham on Tuesday night. Sunderland have signed Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria, Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher and Cardiff goalkeeper Lee Camp on loan until the end of the season. The Black Cats have also agreed to loan NDong to Watford and U23s defenderTom Beadling to Dunfermline. Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town will be looking to do the double over his former club. Chris Coleman: “At the very least (with the dealings that we have done) we are going to improve the environment, and the personnel that we have brought in will add value to the squad. At the stage we are at in the season there are enough games and enough points to play for to make sure that we are going to be ok." "We have got to make sure that we are ok. Kaz (LuaLua) was fighting fitness so we put him on for 25-30 minutes against Birmingham. That will do him the world of good." "Fletch played last week for 50 odd minutes so he is ok physically. Ovie played 90 minutes at the weekend for the under-23s. Jake (Clarke-Salter) is already here of course and Lee Camp has had five 90 minutes with the under-23s. They are all ready to play a big part at the weekend.” “We went with Lamine (on Tuesday) and it was a tough one for him. He had a real bad fall on his knee and we thought that he might have to come off, but he got through it. He will be a big doubt for the weekend.” Mick McCarthy: "I'm always disappointed when we lose of course, but I can't really argue with the result.” "They are a very good side, but I can't argue with my lads or complain at them for the effort and application that they give.” "Could we be better at times, quality with the ball? Yeah, but they give me and they give this club everything every week so I'll settle for that." Match facts: Sunderland have won their last seven home matches against Ipswich in all competitions, though this is the first meeting at the Stadium of Light since January, 2007. The Tractor Boys haven't won away at Sunderland since August 1989, a 4-2 victory at Roker Park. Chris Coleman was victorious over Mick McCarthy the last time that they faced each other, with Coleman's Coventry winning 2-1 in a Championship game against Wolves in February, 2009. McCarthy has never won away from home at Sunderland in the second tier (P5 W0 D1 L4), with one of those defeats a 6-0 defeat in December 1995 as Millwall manager. Sunderland have won seven points in their last four league games at the Stadium of Light, which is more than in their last 17 home games combined. Ipswich have won just one of their last eight away Championship outings (D2 L5), failing to win any of their last four (D1 L3). With O'Shea back in defence and the pace of Asoro, Fletcher and Ejaria it could make all the difference. My guess is a 1-0 win. Ha’way the Lads
I think Camp will probably go straight in there, O'Shea back will help as even when Kone's playing well he's no leader. I'd expect Maja or Fletcher to be upfront supported by Lua Lua. Who knows, though, there are fitness issues and some decent competition for places now. The runes tell me that we're going to win this one and play well too.
Team News:Trio in contention, Kone doubtful Chris Coleman expects all three of his Deadline Day signings to be in contention for Saturday. Ovi Ejaria, Ashley Fletcher and Lee Camp joined Sunderland on Wednesday as the Black Cats concluded their transfer business until the summer. The trio, who all signed on loan, provide Coleman with options ahead of the final set of Sky Bet Championship fixtures, and the 47-year-old has said that they are all fit and raring to go. Coleman did, however, cast doubt about Lamine Kone’s availability for this weekend’s home fixture against Ipswich Town, revealing that he is struggling with a knock. “At the very least (with the dealings that we have done) we are going to improve the environment,” he said. “The personnel that we have brought in will add value to the squad. “At the stage we are at in the season there are enough games and enough points to play for to make sure that we are going to be ok. “We have got to make sure that we are ok. “Kaz (LuaLua) was fighting fitness so we put him on for 25-30 minutes against Birmingham. “That will do him the world of good. We're better off without Kone anyway, O'Shea has had a good season and should start ahead of him as should Browning and Clarke. I'd start Camp, Ruiter is crap simple as.
I'll be hoping for a line-up more like this. Could be miles off, like. ..........................Camp Browning............JOS............Clarke-Salter Matthews....Catts....Honeyman....Oviedo ...............Lualua............Maja .........................Fletcher
Aye I think that's the team I'd pick. Weak as piss in CM but not a lot can be done about that until Gibson gets back. I quite like Asoro as an impact sub so happy for him to come on later for Lua Lua who hopefully will be knackered after running his arse off for sixty minutes.
My lineup.... ...........................Camp................................. ........Browning..Oshea..Clarke-Salter....... Mathews........................................Oviedo ................Honeyman..Catts..Ejaria....... .........................LuaLua.......................... .........................Fletcher....................... Lots of changes but i think after Monday night its a must. Its abit harsh to drop Honeyman maybes but with him playing we have 3 little lads in the middle and i think hes in need of a rest and to reflect after playing nearly every game so far.
Just realised that team has 6 loan players in when were only allowed 5 so swap Honeyman with Williams and he'll have to reflect another time .
Yeah Lua Lua is but id start him and take him off mid way through the second half. He played abit Tues night so that would have helped. Maja and Asoro seem to play better as impact subs. Where did you hear about Williams? He played for the U23s last weekend and made the bench on Tuesday.
I'm sure that CC said Jonny needed some more time in a reserve game, but I can't recall if it was in a press conference or on safc.com
----------------------Ruiter---------------------- -----Browning--Oshea--Clarke-Salter--- Matthews--------------------------------Oviedo --------------Cattermole-Robson-------------- ----------------------Honeyman------------------- --------------------Asoro--Fletcher------------ Steele. Love. Ejaria. Williams. Mcgeady. Lua Lua. Maja. Plenty of attacking options on the bench. 3 loans start 2 on the bench to comply with the rules.
It seems odd having so many loans in the team but didn't Watford do that to win promotion? They're doing alright now. Might be thinking of a different team but it can work, not that I'm anticipating a promotion push obviously but a team full of loans can do well.
Yeah Watford got a load of Torino reserve players in cause their owner had links to them or something like that. Huddersfield done it last year aswell. Shame we didnt get all ours in early like them.
