Mahrez recently swapped to same agent as Courtinho, must have thought he could push through a move for him.

Heard Mark Schwarzer talking about Riyad Mahrez on talkSport this morning - had nothing but praise for the lad- basically a humble lad, not at all full of himself but wears his heart on his sleeve ... and is emotionally a bit fragile.

You've inferred that his is a 'sulky schoolboy' ... and you are probably not that far out in fairness.. but many footballers don't have a very maturely developed mentality ... particularly the ones that have come from very humble backgrounds, growing up in deprived areas of the world without the educational advantages that most posters on here will have had ...

From all I've read it appears that Riyad has always dreamt of playing for Pep - Barcelona preferably - right now he's probably feeling that his best, perhaps only, chance of that has gone .... and without being overly patronising towards him - he's likely not the brightest tool in the box - and he (mistakenly in my opinion) thinks his dreams are now over. In his eyes his 'father' (our owners) have been promising him that he can go to Disneyland Paris if his step-dad pays but instead they have refused that because it's not convenient to them right now and, instead, they want him to climb back on their own coach and be content with another day trip to Leighton Buzzard ...<laugh>

Wonder how people would feel if it had been Danny Simpson who had behaved in this way after a money rich club declined to pay market value for him. If it was down to me, he would never play in our first team again. First time forgive. This aint the first time he has thrown his dummy out of the pram. Dont care how good he is - you dont disrespect our football club in this way. 18 months in the academy for me and he can go when his contract expires.

<laugh><laugh> absolutely agree with most of that to a point !
His dream club was also Arsenal and his head was turned by Roma....... what would he have done if he'd have gone to Roma last summer and " The Messiah " came calling in January ?
I think he is being very poorly advised by his agent, Danny Murphy !
Seriously though, that's twice within six months, he's tried to force a move Fosse..... as good as a talent he clearly is , enough is enough now for me mate !
Again, I say, look at how Berahino's career nose dived at WBA trying the very same tactics ?
As for Leighton Buzzard..... Widely rumoured round here that a friendly has been pencilled in for next season with a glamour match against Leighton Town F. C <laugh>

Thing is Mick - with a fully committed, engaged, playing like he has been for the last few months, Mahrez ... we have a real chance of a Europa spot and, who knows, possibly an FA Cup final - and could you see him scoring the winner in the cup final? I could. Without him we are undoubtedly weaker. If we can bring him back into the fold and get him energised I'll happily forgive him for wanting a job offer of a lifetime - which it was.

As you say - he's been very badly advised - agree 100%

Berahino is not a good comparison - Mahrez could go on to play for one of the European giants ... Berahino was always overhyped in my opinion and would have been limited to one of the Welsh or Scottish giants, at best <ok>

So basically, because he is good we can forgive him? Dont wash with me. You make yourself unavailable for work and slag off your employer as unfair you pay the consequence.

... or to put it another way ... "why cut your nose off to spite your face?" ... I think we will grant him a transfer in the summer, period.. Best for everyone if his value goes up because he plays really well between now and then. The problem for us fans is that we get too attached to players and take it too personally. At the end of the day we are just an employer.

... and yes I'll forgive him if he scores the winning goal in the Cup final <laugh> ... but he does need to apologise and face disciplinary action. <ok>

Think we will agree to disagree on this. Would be happy to see him banished to the academy for 18 months and walk away for nothing. A chance for Gray or Diabate to make a name for themselves.

I have no issue with him wanting to move and fully understand his desire to play for Pep. What i do have an issue with is the failure to turn up to training and throwing an almighty strop at not getting his own way. We are not stopping him leaving if our valuation is met, it wasn't so he isn't. Not sure you need to be that educationally advanced to understand that.
Behaving like a petulant child isn't endearing him to anyone, with better advise this could've all been handled so much better without any damage to any reputations.

That's just it...... I would be the first one to give him a standing ovation before or after any game against us, even if he was in a Forest shirt had he shown more respect for the club paying him " life changing " sums of money plus other perks,
The fans , his teammates and Manager ..... all of whome he has treated with contempt and absolutely no respect at all !

... but we come back to the advisers ... any adviser worth his salt and not merely interested in a percentage cut should have spelled out to him the real consequences of behaving like he is doing currently:
    1. fans that have adored him turning on him - why does he think that what he 'wants personally' carries more weight than what 32,000 Leicester fans want from this season - we just roll over say 'fair enough - who wanted European football next season anyway" ?
    2. he's under a contract for another 2 1/2 years on £100k plus a week - we haven't got him on a peanuts contract
    3. Man City were chancing their arm on the cheap when you consider that Coutinho (who achieved less and has worse stats) went for £146k and a defender who has achieved fook all has gone for £75k - he should be as angry, if not more so, with Man City for not wanting him ENOUGH ... their owners are hardly short of a bob or two ...
    4. most neutral fans think he's now acting like a spoilt prick
    5. Yes - he has brought us something incredible - but we have returned the favour by plucking him from obscurity and giving him the stage (and team mates) to put him in the position he now is ...

Spot on mate......... be interesting to see City's resolve and how much they really wanted him if they come back in for him in the summer...... though no one will if he carries on the way he has up to now.

Im really surprising myself here, but i would still welcome him back.

Ulloa publicly said that he would never play for Leicester again, i wanted him gone as soon as he said that, was even angrier that he signed a new deal afterwards.

If we are to believe the stories of him being "depressed" by the situation, then we also haveto believe the stories that other players are furious with him, and thats not something that you can just stroll back into training for.

Man City thought they could stroll in, lowball an offer and have us reluctantly accept it when the player was unsettled, it doesn't work like that any more in football, especially at financially safe clubs like ours (at the moment :emoticon-0138-think).

Until i hear something from Mahrez on one of his official social media accounts, then i have no problem with him taking a few days to wind down and assess the situation. I'd like it to be an official leave, but we'll see how that develops.

I love the bloke but enough is enough now. The longer this goes on, the harder it is going to get for him.

He needs to take what's coming (fines etc) apologise to all and sundry and get back to doing what he does best.

I'm sure he will go in the summer, but if he continues to go AWOL, then I agree with Barwell, keep him well away from the 1st team until his contract runs out.

Then someone can have an unfit, demoralised Mahrez for nothing.

A footballer's life is a short one and a player isn't in his prime for many seasons, which is why FIFA's treatment of the Silva transfer was so unfair and might have deprived the lad of competing for Portugal in the World Cup through no fault of his own. Mahrez's prime is now and he needs to stop inflicting problems on himself and get back to showing what he can do so that he can fulfill his ambition of a big club move. But our owners also need to sit down with him and make it clear to him that if he doesn't settle back in and pull his weight he still won't be let go for less than our valuation of him in the summer.

I don't think anyone can take the mantle of being the most disrespectful p***k off Dennis Wise.

    This an undisputed fact.
Mahrez needs to realize our owners will probably let him play for the u23's for a couple of seasons as they wont see it as loosing anything as he didn't cost anything. Looks like he may miss the Swansea game as well but he then needs to apologize to his team mates and show respect to the fans as without them and us we wont see him again. We have seen in the past if the owners think you have disrespected the club they wont tolerate it.
