Philip Buckingham @PJBuckingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka on the Michael Dawson saga: “We were disappointed. I know Michael for many years. He is a captain that many people would like to have. We were trying; we know how pleased he was to come here. He would have been a massive addition."
Cos it's all rumours. I imagine we've kept himto his contract. Forest might have only been offering 18 months and we aren't renewing at all. Or we are offering next season on reduced terms and forests are better. Either way he's staying here and he can go with our blessing at the end of the season.
Michael Dawson should do what's best for him but now he's staying as long as he keeps giving 100% and helps keep us up (and I have no doubt that he will, it just seems to be his nature) then it should be win/win
Michael should do what's best for himself now and make sure he's fit for pre season and reduce the chance of his new club being in league one next year. Well done Ehab. ****.
Personally I don't blame Dawson but I'm glad he's here until the end of the season as we really need options and cover at least. However, is it just me or is the way Karanka is speaking about a player still at another club more that a bit classless? “We were disappointed. I know Michael for many years. He is a captain that many people would like to have,” said Karanka. “We were trying; we know how pleased he was to come here. “But sometimes the other party does not want it to happen and we could not do any more to make it happen." “I have to keep working, because he would have been a massive addition. He is a good player and let’s see what is happening. “It is something we could revisit in the summer, yes. He is a good player who is going to be free at the end of the season. “He is a proper captain, so we will see what happens in the summer.”
Forgive if I'm being naive but a 'proper captain' wouldn't jump ship when we're in deep relegation trouble. I thought Dawson was made of sterner stuff. Although in his defence we don't know what sort of crap he's had to put up with behind the scenes. Maybe the bastards have just worn him down.
Whatever happened yesterday, Michael Dawson will give his all if he can. He's a professional and he's a Dawson.
We shall see. I think you're right but... Definitely been playing for a contract. Was injured quite a lot in the other three seasons
Another reason why Forest might have been a good fit, could be that he's involved in a recruitment agency in Nottingham isn't he?
Hey Nige, you do realise don't you, that you'll have a ****ing enormous job(by) on your hands in the summer. Those conversations (or probably lack of) that go on behind the scenes will see most of the players disappear during the summer. And Ehab certainly won't be spending on any paddles for you.
Seasoned professional, high standards, employed by shamateurs like the Allams. Contract running down, alternative option available. Anyone with half a brain would take that up. Didn't Huddleston say similar things about the way his contract 'negotiations' were dealt with? Only two failures to blame -> ALLAMS OUT !!!
I very much doubt that Bowen would have wanted to stay as opposed to moving to Everton for example (I think that was the brief rumour) Dawson may sulk because he wanted to go to Forest I did say I don’t think either of them will though
