We now know what players are available, if injured, and the time comes where we have to submit our squad of 25. Maximum number of overseas players is 17, but we have 18. So who gets the chop in your opinion?

    Heurelho Gomes
    Daryl Janmaat
    Miguel Britos
    Younès Kaboul
    Sebastian Prödl
    Gerard Deulofeu
    Didier Ndong
    Molla Wagué
    Abdoulaye Doucouré
    Kiko Femenía
    Marvin Zeegelaar
    José Holebas
    Christian Kabasele
    André Carrillo
    Étienne Capoue
    Orestis Karnezis
    Stefano Okaka
    Roberto Pereyra

In the same way we have 9 homegrown for eight places.

    Adrian Mariappa
    Tom Cleverley
    Troy Deeney
    Nathaniel Chalobah
    Andre Gray
    Will Hughes
    Daniel Bachmann
    Tommie Hoban
    Craig Cathcart

It is not easy, but maybe when the club announce the squad we will have a better idea about the long time injured.

I don't know the rules but could you not chop two overseas players and retain all nine homegrown players?

I think you can. There doesn't seem to be any rule to prevent you having all homegrown players.

I would drop/loan out Kaboul and Hoban, as they are both permanently injured and in Kaboul's case, not exactly that helpful when fit...

Shame for Hoban as he looked promising, but a new start would probably help.

I guess it depends on the extent of some of the injuries we have. How likely is it that Kaboul, Femenia, Britos, Chalobah, Hughes, Hoban, Cathcart will even be properly fit before the end of the season? I expect that may well be what determines who makes the squad or not.

Well most of them are meant to be in training and fit at some point although how fit is a good question?

I wonder if Okaka will be one dropped as we seemed pretty keen to sell him !

In that list we have 12 players at the back so yes Hoban plus one defender from the overseas players to bring it down to 10

Maybe or maybe not - the new Head Coach is noted for being defensively minded and may prefer to keep all his options in that area. But, having said that...

I suspect that Hoban will be one of the unlucky ones, but then he isn't yet near fitness (as far as I'm aware) so won't really be a surprise.

As for the other - that's anyone's guess. I doubt Okaka will go - that would leave us with limited options up front. I got a sense last night that Capoue may have been fighting for his place, so could be a candidate. Failing that, we haven't seen too much of Kaboul or Britos, so one of those two.

The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm bloody glad I'm not the one who has to make the choice.

We have been leaking goals at the back and we dont have a striker that is currently finding the back of the net .This has been common knowledge for some time .So what do we do bring in a V good wide player plus a C/mid that cant get much game time at Sunderland And we pray that our injured can come back and play as good as they did before.

Sounds like it's going to be one of Wague or Okaka left out.

So Wague is out then? Strange choice, is he just injured for the rest of the season then?
