Yes and Mahrez obviously doesn't want to stay. As they said last night on motd, he has outgrown leicester.
I don’t think they were giving us a pick of players, they definitely wouldn’t have given us Foden as they wouldn’t want to lose him. They were trying to bully us and take the piss. Our owners took a stand and clearly looking at the other posts (not aimed at you) there’s a few who don’t like that
You’ve gained **** all, he’ll leave for less than you asked for in the summer, and in the interim you’ve got a sulking Mahrez on board. His ‘mate’ was quoted extensively on SSN btw, the lad is pissed off to ****.
Why would we be happy being ‘safe’? Is that what you want as an Everton fan? Got to love how Man City trying to rip us off on deadline day and our owners saying no out of principle makes us greedy. We’re Southampton greedy with VVD? Of course not, the game has gone to **** and us and Southampton have taken advantage (and Swansea with siggy). Don’t hate the player hate the game
From our local paper - not surprisingly - pretty much what I think too "So let’s explain to his ‘friend’ why City ultimately didn’t sell Mahrez on transfer deadline day. Firstly, Manchester City didn’t offer Leicester what they considered to be the current market value. Unimpressed by Mahrez's behaviour It has been a record-breaking window which has seen Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona for £145million, a player whose stats in the first half of the season didn’t match Mahrez’s. A centre-back, Virgil van Dyke, went for £75m and Manchester City themselves spent £57m on young French defender Aymeric Laporte. Now, considering Mahrez is a Premier League winner, a Champions League quarter-finalist, a PFA player of the year, a Ballon d’Or top 10 nominee and is aged 26 with two-and-a-half years still left on a lucrative contract that he was happy to sign 18 months ago, was a deal said to be worth £65m, which included a mystery player - a true valuation? Mahrez and Manchester City will argue yes, but City will say no. Another factor was that City were not exactly impressed with the behaviour of Mahrez and his agent over the past couple of days and everyone around the club knows that chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is not a man who likes being pushed around, dictated to or even bullied."
yeah not saying thats who they were offering. Nobody knows but mangala we know is surplus so you'd think would be an easy one to settle. Not sure what they think of their youth players who won't get much of a chance
Don’t be so naive ffs. The opportunity only arose because of the injury to Sane. City came in with big money and the lad put a request in. He wanted the move and it’s obvious why, arguing that £65m for Mahrez is chicken feed shows just how ****ed the game is.
... ahh but Everton are a massive club John lad ... the 'popular pundits' were having a bit of a **** fest as Koeman spent his money before the season and the consensus were predicting that Everton would now be challenging for top 6 ... If you recall, when we won the Championship and were promoted, our chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, publicly stated that the club's target would be European football within 5 years ... now we obviously blew that out of the water within 2 seasons ... but it shows that we are not merely looking to be safe from relegation each season ... uppity little East Midlands outfit that we are eh? ... we should know our place in the hierarchy
Are you calling Pep a liar? ... he's publicly stated otherwise ... and that they actually enquired about Mahrez this summer gone ... plus would likely be back next
He may have been a good one, not necessarily the first position that would need filling especially if Mahrez has left. I’m just pleased the owners have stood up to Man City. He’ll go at some point by £55 mill on deadline day was dirty tactics by them to unsettle him and try to force a move through
Pep: Speaking to Sky Sports after Man City's 3-0 win over West Brom, Guardiola said: "He's a Leicester player. Everybody knows we were trying but we cannot afford, in this moment, this amount of what they are asking. I understand perfectly. "We tried to do it in the summertime, we tried to do it now, but like summer, they locked the door and we can go to the summer and holidays.
A valid comparison - indeed you are below us - so would you be selling your best players now .... because you 'look safe'? ...
That’s what I’m interested in. All I’m hearing from some quarters is that we should be thankful to not go down, have no ambition and let ourselves be bullied on the last day and let our best players go for for much lower than lesser players and feel thankful Man City showed interest in one of our players!
Not one bit ... just loving the pomposity of other fans advising us that we should have done something that they would hate their own clubs to do ...
