Sounds about right, had a beige jacket on? Maybe a bit earlier as we parked up at 25 past and I had time for a drink before the game. I did come from that direction though. I was in jj of 42 and it was interesting to note how little the Northam sang bar literally the back ten rows. I hate being that far back normally but glad I was tonight. On another note it seemed a lot of chants were starting back of Kingsland more often than Northam, is that quite normal now does anyone know?
I get wanting the fans to cheer and encourage the players, but I also get why some fans are fed up with watching the same **** time after time. Fans atm are paying to support a team with no direction, no hunger, no spark absolutely **** all. I get why some wouldn't cheer etc when going 1-0 down, especially on a cold day and how bad the team is playing. The fans not cheering, but also not booing are still turning up spending hard earned cash to support the team. The trouble is the price of a ticket and how much money is floating around in the Prem is killing of a lot of what football was.
The demographics have changed for sure but the key part of your post is the word I've put in bold. Maybe it's a dying thing but I'm a firm believer that fans have a duty to support the team when they attend matches. I like to feel like I'm involved in the game rather than a mere spectator. Agree football is ****ed at the highest level.
Money has killed off a lot of passionate supporters. Many either can't afford to get a ticket or if they do it means they have to sacrifice something else to get it. They then go to see multi millionaires running around and showing hardly anything. You add that to fans seeing player after player leaving and acting like kids to get their way I can see why many fans have given up. I am not there yet, but I myself am question why I have a season ticket and why I spend so much cash to go to away games to watch a team were many players are doing the bare minimum, the owner stays silent and the board have their heads up their asses. I can see why many fans have fallen out of love with football
I didn’t get that the players have given up, far from it. I saw passion and commitment, but I also saw that when we counter attacked we mainly did it methodically with little urgency and against a tall well organised team. I thought we were naive rather than disinterested
We`ve got the players to get something out of the WBA game - problem remains that I have no confidence in MP2 to pick the right team, set them up right, or motivate them. Pardew is smarter than he is, and he`ll have WBA right at it from the kick off.
We've had the players to win more than 4 of our 25 league games this season but it hasn't happened. No confidence that we will get the win we need away at WBA.
I don't know what is wrong with the team, but the seeds of it were there last season as well. We should have stuck with Puel....but fans reap what they sow. Mauricio means us no harm and I'm sure is a lovely guy, but he is out of his depth in the EPL. Many fans rejected Puel partly because he couldn't get our team to play like they did when we had better players, but mainly they rejected him because he didn't look and sound like a manager to them. Well, MP2 looks and sounds like a manager doesn't he? We are unravelling, but not beyond repair....sadly we needed new players to not only play but revitalise the team. A bit much to put that all on Carrillo's shoulders.
Probably the most annoying thing about last night was that Brighton were unquestionably the worst team from the Prem who have played at St Mary's so far yet it was only in the second half we brought an additional striker on (albeit pushing Lon wide) and gave the opposition masses of problems. I cannot see how MP2 can keep his job after this game, one that was there for the taking but squandered the first 45 minutes pursuing the tried and failed option of a lone striker. Everyone in the ground except MP2 could see that this wasn't working. It hasn't worked all season and the results only support this fact. Additionally, yet again we have missed transfer targets and failed in our objectives to improve the squad. It was not all negatives last night as I thought that Cedric, Bertrand and JWP played well but it is clear that this squad is capable of performing yet the tactics are hopeless. I thing that MP2's sacking is going to be a given yet Reed's position is surely as equally untenable. Two points thrown away last night against woeful opposition.
Agree with this. The players clearly haven't given up - although heads went down a bit after the pen last night - and until they do, neither will I.
I know what you mean...but we are crying out for anyone to score....and I am pleased to see one of our lads do well, because he stepped up last season only to see his chances dwindle at the start of this season. And as we are hard to beat, one goal could equal 3 points (I whistle a happy tune to show I'm not afraid....).
You can't dominate and have all those shots without trying....but we need to get the bloody thing in the net.
I’m not quite sure how the price of a ticket affects how well the crowd supports the team. They know going to the game, that we’re not good right now. So do they pay all that hard earned money so they can moan? That’s no excuse for me. We’re in a difficult position and we know it might be a grind, but that’s part why we should be going to get behind them and help them. It’s like the fans don’t understand how important they can be.
I understand all of that Beefy, but it is still illogical to go and give up after 10 minutes trying to support the team. Do they not get how they can help? Does aggressively shouting and groaning help? Do they go wanting it to be better? If yes, they need to consider how they can affect that, because they can.
