Long didn't have a great game tonight but he has been playing better in the previous 3-4 games. What I don't understand is starting Long as the solo forward against a team who are known to sit back and defend rigidly. He isn't suited to teams that play like that.
I think MP2 is a nice guy. That is the problem. I wish he was a total **** and then I wouldn't feel so bad about slating him. Unfortunately, he is just out of his depth. This will be his last Premier League job. I am crap at tactics, crap at football, crap at training. But I honestly believe that even i would have got at least a win in the league out of this squad since November as a total football manager novice. December and January with NO wins. Still in a job. In the words of EMF: Unbelievable.
Ok. So Dry January was done bar the last hour (doesn't count ) Just on 3rd glass of wine and popped over to bet air where I forgot I had £30 in. Just bet the whole lot on Saints to get relegated at 5/1. I think the Bookies are smoking MP2's leftovers.
Back from the game.... mmmm where to start. We weren’t very good. After ten minutes you could see Brighton with 10 players and the keeper behind the ball forming two lines and watching us pass side to side. Boufal should have come on then (let’s ignore for now that he wasn’t great when he did come on). It was screaming for someone a player to be direct and run at them. Boufal is really the only one we have to do that and he should be played centrally. When he did come on he actually looked pissed off and not interested. I think most of us (not all) think the manager is wrong for us, so I don’t get the childish and abusive language toward him. It’s not his fault he is out of his depth and a bit pathetic really, but I believe some people like to vent. Growing up might be another plan Laces used the words I used after 5 minutes of the game. Our team looked scared and fearful.
I'm confident if I were in charge we'd sit top 6 right now. My history with Champ Manager has told me such. In all honesty though I feel exactly the same, I have no vitriol against Pellegrino but it is very apparent he isn't a capable manager. I had hoped the board would see what us fans could back at the end of December but they seem content to stick with him.
I'm thinking to put maybe another £50 on it and then my season ticket would be virtually free next season.

Yeah, well January has been and gone and I think I'll let it ride, its only a tenner anyway. More annoyed I listened to all the happy clappers on here and didn't put more on, last few years I've staked far more in the hope of trading out for a profit further down the line only for Saints to perform way better than I expected.
What annoyed me most tonight, no sorry, embarrassed me most tonight, was our “fans” Awful tonight. Massive, massive game and they gave up after 13 minutes. I don’t really care how much poor football they’ve had to watch this season and how much they’ve had enough of it, to not get behind your team, is shocking. The team needed the crowd tonight. The crowd were a disgrace, apart from ten minutes after the goal. Brighton fans were right singing, “sing when you’re drawing” We’d have been better off with a crowd of 18,000 loyal supporters there tonight. I know thisnpost will piss some people off, but tough. Our fans (generalising here) deserve relegation. When the chips are down, the fans need to dig in and get behind the team, drag them up and drive them on. We just don’t do that. I sat and listened to a pile of whinging, moaning, self entitled prats tonight. If they think moaning, groaning and having a go during a game is going to help, then they’re also thick. No need to mention booing, because it wasn’t that, it was the total lack of support. Fair weather fans in the thousands.

100%. I heard quite a few moans before the penalty was even given, around the 8 minute mark I think. Quite what these fans think it achieves is baffling.
