Seeing as no one else seems that bothered I thought I'd stick a thread up to at least discuss Sanchez's premier league debut. The game is at Wembley and I fully expect us top win. We surely can't recruit a player like Sanchez and then go away to another top team to try not to lose. I think we'll play to win and win by a couple of goals, three one. Team to be, based on having no knowledge of the state of injuries and not being arsed to check; De Gea Valencia Bailly (injured?) Jones Shaw Matic Pogba Mata Sanchez Lukaku Martial. I wouldn't complain if Lingard got the nod ahead of Mata and Smalling would fill in for Bailly if he's still injured. The opponents are Spurs and kick off is at 8.00pm. I'll be in the pub by then.
As Fergie said - it's only Spurs, one of those lesser games that hardly merits a match-day thread, the outcome is a foregone conclusion - 3-2 to us, Sanches scores the winner
EVERYTHING going against us today .. a goal which should never had stood and an own goal Jones always have that one moment of madness on him
tbh .. some players didn't turn up too .. Spurs are more aggressive and want it more than us well done for them
With Pogba gone (bad game too), our midfield is non-existent. All those years we moaned about our midfield, but what I'd give for Carrick's vision, passing and calming influence.
Great move taking Pogba off to give Fellaini a five minute run. Who came up with that idea? Genius. Our centre halves are beyond **** though. That 'partnership' has never, and will never, work. Special mention to Delle Alli for being the most hateful **** football has seen for a long time. Sometime soon he'll get brained, the cheating pile of ****e.
I didn't get any of Jose's substitutions ... we had less chances since those substitutes unlucky with goals .. but below bar performance .. no excuses
I'd say it was a disaster. Sanchez was largely anonymous with his main contribution a track back to tackle Dembele. I'm certain I could have touched the ball more times if offered his £350k for this week.
Total balls up by Jose. You don't start a player who doesn't know his team mates in a big game, you don't take off Lingard for Fellaini. Leave Lingard on, change Sanchez for Rashford and Pogba for Herrera that leaves Mata or Fellaini for the last 10/15 mins to change approach.
An all round ****e performance! We simply do not have good enough footballers to compete with the top teams, unless we play negative park the bus tactics. So when we conceded the first goal I knew we where ****ed. Matic is not good enough in possession, he might be decent at breaking up play, but he lacks any real quality, when it comes to passing. He's not a patch on the player who's boots he was brought into fill Michael Carrick. Whilst Pogba is not diciplined enough to play in midfield, he should be playing further forward, with a central midfield 2 behind him. Lukaku is absolute rubbish, probably one of the worst signings we've ever made. Basically just a tap in merchant when the teams 3-0 up. He's just not a top footballer it's as simple as that. Yeah he's big, strong and reasonably quick, but his actual ability with the ball is not good enough to play for Man Utd. His first touch is awful, when he runs with the ball he just looks akward, and his composure under pressure is shocking. We would have been so much better this season had we not signed him and just put our faith in Rashford and Martial as strikers. I'm not even sure what to make of Sanchez's performance. I wasn't really convinced by the signing beforehand, and he didn't really show a lot tonight to convince me otherwise. To be honest if you asked me would I swap him for Mahrez now, I'd say yes. It is early days for him, so hopefully he will prove me wrong. But can't say I'm overly enthusiastic about a 29 year old on a 4 and a half year mega contract. I think Mahrez would have been a much better signing. I think in the next game Lukaku needs to be dropped, we put Herrara and Matic in midfield, and we stick Pogba on one of the wings, and try Sanchez as a striker. Some may laugh at me saying Pogba on the wing, but he has the pace and power to really effect the game from there, and he's not as big a liability defensively.
No, I've thought about it too. Pogba isn't so effective and can even be a liability in a midfield two, but when he's found himself out wide against an isolated full back he has the pace and trickery to go past them and get in a good cross.
