Les Reed and Ralph Krueger clearly aren't going to make any changes in the current circumstances. Is it time for the fans to take more drastic measures? I'm certainly not wasting £40 on any home game at the moment. I do think it's time to at least make some "Pellegrino out" banners and protest outside the stadium on matchdays etc. I wouldn't say no to a mass walkout during a game either. I would rather go down and get rid of Reed, Krueger and Pellegrino then survive and keep the lot of them next season. I want to enjoy watching Saints again. I can't see that happening until the club has a massive clearout, starting with the board.
I’m up for it. Want the useless arrogant ****s get out of this club with tail start between their legs. And Mauricio, you may be a nice guy, but you are ****ing useless manager. **** off.
I can't even feel sad about being relegated. I have but accepted it and it is just meh. I have grown away from Southampton because of how **** we are on and off the pitch. It's why I post so much less on here
Pellegrino has to go. I have defended him as much as I can, but the guy is absolutely clueless. Ridiculous, ridiculous tactics and selection tonight. Pathetic. Abysmal. Embarrassing.
The Midlands Massive decided at the turn of the year not to bother going to home games until MP is sacked and we spend the huge sum of money we had from VVD to buy some creative players. We will go to our local away games but we aren't going to waste days of travelling and large sums of money going down to SMS to be feed this utter rubbish
I’m in agreement Beefy. Instead of involving the fans they are pushing more and more away. We are so predictable. I said we’d sign no more than 1 player, RK as usual is pushed out to pedal his usual bollocks, and I’m sure the LR transfer window “so hard to buy quality in the January window”, is due any time.
Competely agree with both Brixham and Beefy about the feeling toward something Saints. What I dislike most about Les and co is that they are diminishing my love for the club which I have followed since I was 10 (I’m almost 23). Now I know I’ve been very lucky to have supported Saints in the journey from league one to Europa league, and I appreciate that there have been worse times than these, but I can only say what I feel about what I’ve lived through. This season I have pushed and pushed away from Saints. I don’t even watch streams most games and just update here and twitter every so often. I’m pleased when we win of course but I don’t care if we lose (after the initial 15 mins of ranting). Losing used to ruin my weekend although I’ve grown up quite a bit since then but even so it’s just so meh at the moment. I’m certainly not going to cry when we go down. If anything relegation may bring a few home truths and we can start again.
I'm not losing my love for the club at all, seems a silly thing to say really. The game in general? A different matter.
This season has so many parallels with 2004/05 with Les Reed playing the role of Rupert Lowe, talk about from hero to zero!. A cheap option novice Manager (Wigley) that should never have been let near the Saints hotseat, board reluctant to spend the necessary cash to bolster the squad and progress after the good times under Strachan. Now Les Reed is the big cheese when it comes to football matters at the club and the buck stops with him IMO. He has overseen us shift from a safe, established well run club to a struggling, embarrassing. relegation haunted basket case in the last year with some calamitous decisions and negotiations. He had a big chance to turn it around in this transfer window, bolstered by a huge transfer kitty but came up short. Sacking Pellegrino should've happened at least before Stoke sacked Hughes, but I fear it may be a little late for a new man to make an impact and all the indications are that Reed's ego won't allow him to sack his "protégé".
I reckon we should all streak on the pitch with the blokes windmilling at the directors box. As it's Liverpool next someone can cockslap Virgil too. I think it's only right that we let @jonny shuttle take the lead on this
For once I agree with Alex Crook. Fans deserve transparency from new owners. LR quick to take plaudits and big promotions when all good, but has had 3 nightmare transfer windows and 2 managerial appointments
Unfortunately I agree (2004/5, Lowe, etc) & was stating same to my son early today before the game. So sad. So stupid. So ****ing ridiculous.
The biggest difference? That era of Saints was genuinely cash-strapped and consistently flirting with the drop. We're really rather wealthy and coming off four consecutive finishes in the top eight. Les has worked much harder than Lowe to find us in this circumstance.
Yep, although we'd had a few decent finishes in the seasons before 04/05. However, and this is particularly relevant when people start criticising the supporters, Lowe never talked about his plan to get into the Champions League and I think that, alongside the financial stuff you mention, is the key reason the fans are upset. Frankly there's been a lot of talk about ambition, Europe etc and it's all proved to be nothing but hot air.
That and the fact that we genuinely weren't far away from Champions League; we were doing well financially and absolutely challenging for Europe, before making a series of inexplicable decisions. In 2015-16 we were three points below from Manchester City in fourth; 20 months later and we're three points above 20th. That's quite a turnaround.
