January transfer deadline day: 2018 edition

Hmm, I'm a big fan of Lamela and think he has been very unlucky with injuries since coming to England, but:

1) He is very similar in style to Tadic, in that he doesn't stretch teams with pace and uses his technical ability to create space. Something that we already have in the squad and hasn't worked so far under MP

2) He is just returning from a very long injury lay off so will need game time to get up to speed, and we can't really afford to carry someone like that at this moment in time.

 

Rate Lamela but as magic says he's just returning from injury and he's not exactly what's needed for a relegation battle imo.

 

Probably leave it til the last minute and Levy swindles us as Sissoko rocks up at Staplewood

 

Funny how quite early on there were reports that Brighton were close to signing Dembele and theres been nothing about him joining any club since (that I've seen).

 

If we are looking at an alternative for Promes a little closer to home I wouldn't be against trying for Markovic from Liverpool.

 

What we really need now to stick our hand in the lucky dip basket at the fair and see what we get. I am hoping for either a top winger with electric pace or one of those styrofoam aeroplanes that can do tricks.

I hope we don't loan out Sims or Hesketh. They would be worth a go in the first team now Promes isn't coming. The exuberance of youth may be what we need.

Are they strengthening?....only time will tell. Knowing our fans they would sniff at quite a few players signed by other teams...IF we signed them. Grass always seem greener....and all that. I wanted at least one more player to stir up the team, but I know our team is good enough but underperforming. There is more there if someone gets a cattle prod out.

 

Has Schurlle gone anywhere yet? He was being offered up as a loan option earlier in the window.

 

Well yeah they are strengthening, bringing more players in means you have more options which is what strengthening means. Our team hasn't been good enough for over a season now. Whether that is players not being assed/ not good enough or the manager at fault it doesn't matter as nothing has changed. It's why we are in relegation

I hate being right, I predicted when the VVD was a done deal, that we would not pay out more than £25m and only buy one player.
All we can hope for now is maybe a loan....but who! And is it to late?

 

Reported £140,000 a week wages......so a no for us.

 

A 2 year loan to Swansea apparently fell through after another Dortmund squad member got injured and they decided they needed to keep him. Or so the story goes.

 

In the report that I read a week or so back he was being offered out on loan and Dortmund were happy to pay most of the wages!

 

I'd say balls as that's another option gone, but at least Swansea didn't get him either. He would improve any of the bottom half teams.
