Democracy is about a lot more than a single vote. Its a long running process, and includes representing the people who voted against you, not just your own supporters. As such you need to have politicians from other parties in government with power. Having a single ruler with unlimited power is just tyranny, no matter how he got into power. Hitler was elected after all.

I hope he gets the same Scottish welcome that they gave to Farage in an Edinburgh pub a few years ago.

you do not give the German people enough credit, Hitler was never elected by the people. After two elections in 32 the Nazi party were the biggest party but even with a coalition with another party they did not have enough seats, Hindenburg invited Hitler to form a government as he feared violence on the streets, which with hindsight is the biggest ****ups of all time

And Trump didn't even get the most votes. But you missed the point. Even if you are elected through democratic process, the process needs to continue, you can't base everything off the interpretation of the initial vote and give a leader full power because of it. Hitler managing to get elected as you just showed is an extreme example of why that can't happen.

I was always told (but didn’t believe it) that the Conservatives were savvy with regards to our money, then you see stories, like this, that confirms that they have only ever been interested in depleting national assets in their rush to line the pockets of private companies, and in all likelihood, themselves and friends.

The MOD is currently paying £178m pa to rent properties it previously owned, with fears that the rent will increase by £84m pa when the new contract is signed in 2021.

Interesting story about a guys journey through the benefits system.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-42789610

I know some people might have doubts about exaggeration in stories like this but working in housing and having been on both ends of the system i have experience of so many examples like this and can verify most of whats in that article. The system can be a bloody nightmare to navigate especially if you are the type of person who has difficulty with that type of thing anyway. Everyone has their own individual story but the rules are so bloody ridgid ts really easy for somebody to get caught out and get lost.

The person in this story was apparently outgoing but there are lots of reserved elderly ladies and pround old men(stereotyping) who wouldn't challenge the decision or ask for help that really need it until its too late. I just wanted to help in highlighting this.

That is heartbreaking. We have become such an uncaring nation, especially in the way we treat those that aren’t as fortunate as others. And everything seems to have been made deliberately difficult in an attempt to use sanctions and save a few measly quid, whilst handing out tax breaks to the wealthy, or doing little about tax avoidance.

Don't start me on sanctions! Got a foodbank client with serious mental health issues who has just been sanctioned for failing to intend an interview for his PIP. Stack me, getting this bloke anywhere is a challenge, the poor sod is seriously agoraphobic. We'd helped him complete the paper work and I went with him to plead for another interview. Not only is he sanctioned, but we've got to repeat the paper work. Do I need to tell you that the form is huge, and the guy is illiterate. The system is broken and run by the heartless. If you think "I Daniel Blake" is inaccurate I would tend to agree - it is far too genteel a little tale. The reality is worse.

Protest in support of giving more money to our national health service and Trump uses to campaign against putting money into one of their own <doh>.
Really highlights how little he cares about the truth.

Or listen to Sir Vince (WTF has he done to get knighted for) and raise tax on the little people because they've given up on trying to get money off those who don't pay what they should.................or maybe that is why he got the knighthood...........for dropping the idea of going after the rich people.

Vince Cable comes out with some very original ideas...............NOT. A tax that covers just health eh? And he wants to call it NHI.........Hmm nice idea that..........Just like it used to be called.

Seeing as Soubry knows she can't win her seat next time she may as well jump over to the Lib Dems for the remaining 3 years. She only just won her seat last year and she is still ignoring her leave voting constituents.

Wow you Southerner's have some heartless councils:

We have those sharp things on any flat part of buildings to stop the pigeons but we don't have anti homeless bars on the chairs. Do they have spiked doorways in Bournemouth too?

Bloody horrible Imps. I saw these last week while shopping in Bournemouth. It made me wonder at the mentality involved as you'd think several (hopefully not utterly stupid) people would be needed to OK this, not just one mad bugger.

Then looking at them I thought anyone with a poundshop spanner could remove then in 3 mins so heartless and incompetent. Actually unless you were a very fat homeless person they could be adapted to make a nice tent.

Anyway they're off now. Not because it's a cruel reflection on attitudes to struggling members of today's society but, I suspect, rather better off Bournemouth residents think they look a bit naff.

That is ridiculous. Before I read it I thought it was going to be a retaliatory sort of joke meme that they've taken their bed with them.

Local government logic strikes again: we have a homelessness problem, so if we remove the places the homeless sleep, the problem will disappear.
