Much improved performance from Can but that generally means we're in for a couple of stinkers from him now.

Thought Karius had a good game too. Very good save in the first half

 

Let's hope Klopp wasn't resting Moreno for the Spuds game.

 

What those things mean in term of points at the end of the season is speculation.

I liked that Klopp did Can hadn't played well against WBA in his post match interview.

 

I know it is not fashionable but I support MITO here.

If our top desire is to be realistic i.e increase the likelihood of a top 4 rather than a longer shot of toppling the mancs from 2nd place then surely the best outcome must be a Mancs win over Spurs. Especially now that we have increased our margin from 5th by 3 points. And if then we beat Spurs, the gap is 8 points with fewer games to play almost guaranteeing us top 4. The draw does not come close in terms of benefit to us. A Spurs win at Wembley AND beating us would take them above us. A Spurs defeat tomorrow and a Spurs win against us need not be disastrous.

But because it's the mancs no one can bring themselves to accept that simple reality Let's just be careful of what we wish for...

 

Aim for second and fail, we may still get top four. Aim for top four and fail...

Not really. It looked like a very good save from the standard tv angle. When you see the replay from front on the striker hit it straight at him and he still parries it into the middle of the box.

 

I accept that it’s the reality but just can’t bring myself to do it - plus as I have said before for some irrational reason I dislike the spuds more than Utd so can’t do it with either

Ah. Normally it would be true but not in this case. Because the team we are relying to bring that 2nd place closer to us is THE same team that is fighting us for that 4th. That's the dilemma. Those who wish a Spurs win or a draw tomorrow might revise their opinion if Spurs pip us to the 4th spot by beating us and going on a winning run.

 

**** Spurs. They're behind us and we'll take three points of them in our next game.

Sure. But a Spurs defeat would give us margin for error. A spurs win gives us no margin whatsoever. So why do we want them to get any points tomorrow?. This is where the heart rules the head...

 

Because we should be positive and aim for second, not negative and simply attempt to hang on to fourth.
