Who said anything about ‘nasty old UK?’ If you read back you’ll see that I was merely challenging the myth that our open borders let in any Tom, Dick and Mohammad.
Spot on. I can't wait to see what bolloc agents spotted from her and her family. Who needs Emmerdale and Eastenders
Well from my experience they don't give half a **** even with people who have either flouted the rules or just plain old illegal even when they're served with evidence. They might say no to a proper written application but just turn up here and bobs your uncle and off you go.
Here we go, pardon withdrawn. Seems it was too good to be true... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5327317/Laura-Plummer-pardon-withdrawn.html
I noticed that they named her colleague in that article (also that Humberside plod no longer exists). Edit: seems they named the potential supplier weeks ago together with the shop they worked in.
Never mind her what about the Cambodian 5? I know 10 were arrested for dancing !!! but we only care about the British ones. Hashtag free the 5
I wonder if it's a response to the promise of a pardon being publicised over here. I've followed the case of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe* quite closely and throughout that there's been a lot of promises made which turned out to be false hope and it seems they're very concerned about what gets reported over here. Obviously it's a different country, government and (although I have a lot of sympathy for Plummer) much more unfair, but I think there's a lot of similarities in the cases. Both states seem to be playing a game and it's all a bit political, yet neither can quite seem to decide what they actually want to achieve. *(the British-Iranian woman who's been locked up in Iran for about two years now for doing absolutely nothing wrong, and who recently got into the mainstream news quite a bit following Boris Johnson's** handling of her case) **not politics
Okey dokey. Hopefully if one of your family members becomes addicted to drugs being smuggled in, you will be able to meet the person doing so to offer them much sympathy and support during their imprisonment. Or maybe you'd have a different view. "What? These hundreds of Tramadol pills in disguised packaging in someone else's name? Why, I had no idea!?"
I don't think I laughed but I did say to myself "good as it will make others think twice". Once home, she will be minted and a celebrity
I didn’t laugh but I audibly said “ha”. I hope they promise to release her every day and then change their minds each time right up until her full sentence has been served. Kind of like an even better Groundhog Day.
I do not share your sympathy with Laura Plummer and I certainly have my doubts that the whole Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe story has been told. Plummer may well not deserve to be in squalid conditions, but she is 33 years old and has to bear some responsibility for her actions. Maybe if instead of telling the Sun newspaper that she could not wait to be on the plane home, she should have thanked the President for his mercy and his pardon and apologised for her crime. She is now saying that she blames the woman who gave her the tablets for getting her into this. "Ms Plummer blames her shop assistant colleague Donna Irvin, who is currently on sick leave while recovering from back surgery, for providing her with the 290 Tramadol tablets." Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ra-Plummer-set-freed-hours.html#ixzz55fXL9Ppe As for Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, she must have been more than aware that she would be under scrutiny in Iran, look at who she has worked for and were her expertise lay. There is a lot more to this family holiday than has been stated. The press certainly have not done her any favours and nor has Boris.
