so that's the transfer money taken care of then.not really spent much has he taking in to account the amount raked in through the gates and food and all the extra bars put in. must admit to being underwhelmed by the quality for the amount laid out.it does not make sense because the season ticket holders were sold a promise that has been broken. As for the ground he stuck up a few posters of players and put half a new roof on the west stand.
Agreed and to be honest the only thing holding this club back right now is: 1) wage limit - for the right player who will guarantee getting the extra required in goals or performance it needs to be broken. Grabban or Afobe, I believe would have done it 2) The price for an untried untested L1 striker is now £7m - overseas players demand much cheaper prices and wages obviously, but as above exceptions need making for the right player to get you over the line.
All of the above is true, but the thing with the mbakogu link, is he’s a 25 year old serie b striker who doesn’t score many. If serie b is league 1 equivalent... it’s certainly not championship std... it doesnt look like a coup. Now the money they’re talking might be paper talk, but it doesn’t seem to say a lot for our ambition, when we’re a buying a striker that doesn’t score in a league below the standard of the one we’re in... for a not insignificant fee. It’s the quantity over quality bit that’s frustrating people. How many bargain punts do you need to take for one to come off? ... v paying more for someone with at least some pedigree or potential (still always a risk obviously)
Spot on milky. It's not going to get any cheaper to buy players next season or the season after. Surely a top business man like rads knows you've got to speculate to accumulate, not keep putting a couple of quid on the lottery and hoping for the best.
Agreed 100% which is what I said earlier as he only gets 1 in 4 which aint clever. And why I dont rate the Ty Robers kid as he is 1 in 5 in L1 & L2 at least Marriot has scored 18 but a big price. My ideal would have done exactly what the club wanted as Prijavic would have come here for £4m but has scored goals for Leggia Warsaw 13 in 44 but this season has scored 20 in 33 games and wanted by Rennes. He has actually said he wants to come to Leeds. I would back him over Roberts and the Nigerian and he would do as well if not better than Marriot but at half the price
Agree with you though not sure what leagues Prijavic has scored his goals in. And read your earlier post, personally the least of a gamble for me would be Afobe, he's off to Villa you've said but I've seen nothing to say we even enquired about him, which is a shame. Again for me Marriott is too expensive a gamble at 7 mill+ (look at how long it took Roofe to settle though accept he was played out of position) and at only 5'8" not sure he could play as a lone striker.
