I'm coming around to this way of thinking too. Enough is enough. May is too weak and is selling the referendum vote down the river. I liked David Davis, but he's in on the betrayal of the vote too. The Civil Servants within No10, especially the ridiculously pro EU Jeremy Heywood are working as hard as they can to limit Brexit to virtually nothing or still hoping it can be stopped. That wet twat Phillip Hammond needs to be sacked and May needs to step up. As I can't see that happening, she needs to go and we need to take control of these negotiations.
I can see why you say that. If May and her crew had been barely competent irritating twats like me would have been much quieter. Clarity and sense of purpose entirely lacking. However, you can’t say (in my view) that the Brexit vote has been ‘betrayed’ because the referendum didn’t define was Brexit was. Even if the majority of Brexit voters agree with you on ‘hard Brexit’ you can bet that the 48% who voted stay would prefer a soft Brexit and it only takes 3% of the Brexit voters to be happy with a deal which maintains as much as possible of the current economic arrangements but restricts immigration and you have a soft Brexit majority. Neither you nor I can say this is true or not, but you certainly can’t claim that there is a mandate for walking away without a deal. If Rees Mogg or some other person ousts May, it will be yet another Tory putsch to **** over the country, just like the referendum was and just like the negotiating process has been more about what happens within the Tory party than what’s best for the country. But at least May has a mandate to do this - she almost ****ed it up, but that was on domestic policy rather than Brexit. If Rees Mogg or whoever takes over do you lads think we should have another election (which might well let Corbyn in) which would make sense at it would signal a major policy change on the biggest issue we have faced in a generation, or are you content for the sovereignty of the people and democracy to be ignored because you happen to agree with the new bloke? Provocatively worded but serious question.
Can see where you are coming from Sb but May and her crew seem to be 'f22king things up'. Agree Not everyone wanted Brexit but at least do it properly. What did they (EU) say, that we cant make deals during this period which will basically cock us up. No way, the more I listen to these Europeans the more I want a hard Brexit away from them. This will really P off many leave voters as they will feel betrayed. The EU are shooting themselves in the foot. Talking about a closed shop that will never change...it will be their downfall.
I totally agree they are ****ing it up, because they couldn’t negotiate themselves out of a hostage situation with the Teletubbies. But they are ****ing it up in a way which marginally reduces my pain. Our chief negotiator, who reports to May not Davies, has apparently told Barnier that we would be happy to stay in the Customs Union post transition period. Yay. The question was, if May is deposed by a Tory internal coup, should there be a general election to give the new PM a mandate?
Yes there probably should. Corbyn would win and then **** knows where we'll be over Brexit. IMO the main reason we have been so poor in the negotiations is because there are too many people working to undermine the vote and water everything down. When we voted out we meant out. I said quite a while ago that I was expecting us to have a very watered down version of Brexit or even that the slippery ****s will find a way of stopping it altogether. That's the way we're heading and I know that pleases you. I'm heartily sick of hearing the EU say that the UK MUST do this and MUST do that. I'm now getting back towards my old mantra.......................you know the rest!
Not sure that would be a good idea as it could cause more problems. If Corbyn got in (god forbid) He has said we are leaving so I cant understand why people think it will be any different. Can you imagine him as PM with the awful Diana Abbott and the rest of those idiots running the country! It would be worse than the Tories! Actually, I think if it came to it people would realize what he is.
We vote for a party platform of policies. If a new prime minister brings in new policies? Example - a party is elected on a manifesto which includes cutting income tax. It’s leader is deposed and the new one says, actually we are going to increase income tax. If a new PM is simply going to follow the same policies as the old one until the next scheduled election, fine. If they have a different agenda, I think they need a new mandate. yeah, rock and a hard place with Corbyn. EU is just negotiating into the vacuum that our Government has left them to play in. We’ve never been explicit about what we want, as the EU has asked us to be, so it just gets in ahead and says this is what you can have. If we were doing it the other way round you would be delighted. I’m slightly shocked that the 27 still seem to be playing the same game.
I thought our current Government also says we are leaving, and it was the type of leaving we were talking about. I’m a double loser as I don’t want any of them forming a government, and I can’t think of anyone else, apart from perhaps Ruth Davidson, that I want in charge. It would be a **** thing to have another election now, but if we are serious about ‘taking back control’ etc surely the principle is sound? Is the ‘control’ for the government or the people? But basically I just want the chance to register a protest vote in the event of a takeover by the Religious nutter from the 18th century.

yeah but the current lot are weak with a 'remainer' as its chief. What has p'd me off is that we have waited 18months to be told are are still in without a seat at the table. That must change. At the begining we were in the driving seat and should have just said 'we go on this date' unfortunately we managed to cock that up with the help from the enemy within. Bring on Mogg!
Did anyone see this interview when C4's Cathy Newman interviewed the Canadian clinical psychotherapist Jordan Peterson. She tries to suggest that what he actually says is something different by interjecting with ... ''So what you're saying is ... '' By the end of it he can completely bamboozles her. It's about the gender pay gap among other things and is well worth watching if you have half an hour to spare.
