Yep, to a team that got CL through the back door or, to a team that just won 2 trophies and is looking to improve on that ?
I think Ozil will stay now by the way, he seems much happier since Sanchez has left. Clash of personality, who knows.

Sanchez has gone from the team with the 4th highest wage bill to the team with the highest wage bill. It's not rocket science is it. Arsenal and Man Utd have won exactly the same amount of trophies over the last 4 full seasons so Its got **** all to do with amount of cups won.

Yeah true, I noticed all the players lining up to sign for Leicester when they got CL but the FA Cup winners that year couldn't attract anyone <laugh>
As a famous poet once said "it's all about the money money money"

Diego is missing the point that its not exclusively about playing in the CL. Its the fact that teams regularly qualifying for the CL can afford to pay bigger wages because of the money generated from being in the CL.

Didn't Chelsea and Man City want him too but he was all set on joining us? Man City would offer better rate of CL football than us

But most supporters couldn't give a **** about the extra money the directors get as dividends, most supporters want the ecstasy of actually winning something.

Would you rather win a cup or get top 4, it's simple really.
Never seen an open top bus for top 4, not even at Arsenal.

It depends on who you support... it's clearly different for supporters of big clubs who are used to win trophies.

I don't understand any fan of a smaller club choosing top 4.

I could, if you followed the theory that qualifying for the CL = More Money = Bigger Wages = Better Players = Increase in chances of winning trophies regularly.

In practice doesn't really work because the top 6 teams are so strong that even if a team like Leicester breaks the monopoly for one season they will struggle to do it again.

Agree with being used to win trophies though, a trip to Wembley is a lot more exciting for a fan whose club has never been to Wembley in his lifetime than it is for a fan of Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea etc. who have seen their clubs contest a significant amount of finals in their lifetime.

I support United mate, I would always prefer a cup to top 4 unless we actually won the league, a cup and top 4 would be nice though  <ok>

Now you are learning, are you sure you wouldn't like a trophy?
Be honest, how many teams do you see in the CL you have never heard of?

If we'd have won the efl cup last year, we'd have been talking about it for 30 years... a decent percentage of United fans have forgotten about it by now.

I can see what you're saying about logic but in head v heart then heart wins for me every time :)

So would you prefer FA Cup and 5th this year than 2nd and nothing?

I know @luvgonzo is a cup over top 4 man.

As a supporter yes, there is nothing quite like the thrill of a win.
I have never sat there after the last game of the season and screamed "yeesss we got top 4" <laugh>

Remembered for ever mate in the records.
Do they have records for top 4 finish, is there a cabinet you can keep it in and view it?
Liverpool supporters go on about "we won it 5 times", without googleing can many tell you how many times they were in it?
Football is all about winning, every team takes part to reach that goal.
