If Sane was in an offside position then it would have been correct to disallow it. However he wasn't so lino 100% at fault for that.
Can I genuinely ask why as i'm unsure of the precise rule? To me, Sane made no attempt to play the ball, and the keeper was never getting there.
Just a normal game from Mason. I don't rate Bobby Madley, but Lee Mason is by some distance the worst referee in the PL.
The standard of officiating in football is so poor. VAR or not, many of the officials are really not up to an acceptable standard in my opinion.
I couldn't name a decent referee anymore. I used to think Clattenburg was pretty ok, Halsey was decent, and Webb didn't have much of an ego, but there are a lot of performers now (particularly one with a first name of Mike).
At 2-0 down to City in a game your eyes most likely going to lose, it’s a very wreckless challenge. However, in completely different circumstances I would have more sympathy. For example if I was playing in a cup final and we were 1-0 up and in the dying minutes a player raced through on goal I’d do everything to stop him. I’d even rugby tackle him if I knew I wasn’t going to get there. In those circumstances it’s understandable. At 2-0 down to City in the fourth round of the fa cup, not so much.
