It is fair to give them more time, but I'm saying it as I see it, those 3 players have been poor and disappointing so far, will they turn it around? maybe? And then I might well say fair play good on em but for now all 3 have fallen short of the required standard for a championship team. I don't boo their name or curse their existence I'm just calling a spade a spade. Bloody hell what do I know inspite of all the contrary evidence I still think we could have given Naismith another go instead of getting a fiver a week for him in Scotland!

    Bah!

SW and DF had an opportunity to move Watkins on to Bristol City for a £1m profit but chose not to because they think he can do better for us. I hope they're right, and his record at Barnsley suggests that they could be. I agree about Naismith, by the way and DF was open to him staying but it seems he wanted to go.

At least since the summer our "misses" have been relatively cheap. Under the last regime we'd have clung on to all our fading, high wage flops, and added one player for £5m+. Then promptly been screwed if he was no good.

Financially, if just one of our January signings comes good, we'll probably earn enough from their sale to pay for all 4. And on the football front, hopefully these signings help us improve!

I'd still add misses 'so far', but yes we have now got transfers back into proportion to our long-term budget. I like the look of the new recruits, but time will tell of course. Leitner had a good cameo debut yesterday and I'm looking forward to seeing what Hernandez and Srbeny can add to our squad.

Twitter reporting Cantwell to Fortuna Sittard on loan for the rest of the season. Makes sense with all the new additions in.

Same here and I'm hoping that we may start scoring more than ONE goal per game. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Do you think we will be going the rest of the season with 2 strikers?

Yes, in the 2014-2015 season, we only had Jerome and Hooper and I believe far more goals were scored by midfielders (I seem to remember we'd 3 midfielders with 10 or more goals) than our 2 strikers.

I've been wondering about that, FML. Given that Srbeny is new to the English game, there seems to be a big risk if Oliveira gets injured. Both Watkins and Hernandez can also play as a striker, but that seems to be more of a stopgap than a solution.

It's amazing just how much our squad has been transformed this season. Top heavy age wise at the start, Wes and Tettey are now the only players over 28 now that Martin and Naismith are loaned out. The average must be around 25 and that must make it easier to take the strain of a Championship schedule. It might also be the cause of our unevenness this season as new younger players settle into the squad. It'll be interesting to see if that improves over the rest of the season.

I'm expecting so. Unless we can loan a young striker from a big club, I can't see us finding the cash for a striker right now. As others have said, we have 2 strikers plus several players who can fill in if we have an injury crisis. It's not ideal! It's a shame Oliveira's goalscoring has dried up, otherwise we perhaps could have sold him and replaced him with two strikers, given the fees that were being bandied about in the summer.

A striker on loan could be the solution. Ashley Fletcher on loan from Boro has been rumoured.

    Cough cough, ahem <whistle>

    McGovern - 33
    Jarvis - 31
    Klose - 29, turns 30 in May
    Vrancic - 28, turns 29 in May
    Pinto 28 yrs 22 days

Your point is still valid though, it has been a radicle age transformation, with that said a number of the new recruits have been mid twenties, a sensible policy of buying some approaching their peak and a number of youngsters to develop

    Bah!
