I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs form continues to drop. Playing the high press at Wembley all season, with a thin squad AND European football. Still I'd rather avoid them if possible.

Also, Leicester right now are 14/1 to win the cup. If I were a betting man...

For me worst teams we could draw now (in order) are:

    City
    United
    Spurs
    Leicester
    Chelsea

On another note have we reached the quarter finals since 2003?

Can think of last 16 on at least two occasions being going out to Sunderland in 2014 and some horrible club in 2010... but can't recall a quarter final.

Edit - was the 4-0 defeat to United in relegation season a quarter final?

Did anyone of our whinging, moaning fans even consider for one second that the manager was thinking of Wednesday night when he substituted Boufal?

I doubt it. Those that are moaning are probably perfect at their jobs and only accept balcknand white situations or perfection. Sometimes it’s a bit embarrassing that there is zero consideration of other possibilities beyond the manager was ****.

I have been one who eventually moved to the “he’s not the one” camp, but please let’s not throw every last drop of mud at him.

Oh and it’s ok..... I’m just venting (which is the usual ****e excuse given here).

You could say that 3 or 4 times about Saints attacks. Why pick out one Watford chance?

No. If he was thinking of Wednesday he wouldn’t have picked that side in the first place. He was desperate to win. He got lucky despite his ineptitude

I like Pellegrino as a person. He’s calm, thoughtful and seems a generally nice guy. I don’t want that for a Saints Manager. I want a ruthless ****hole who wins.

Black and white as I said then eh?

Couldn’t have played for a win, seen that Boufal had done his job then saved him for Wednesday?

This exactly the narrow minded, blinkered response I expect. Zero credit and zero benefit. It’s almost like you’re gutted we won. You’ve made your mind up on him and that’s that.

Fans like this actually make me feel sorry for the manager and piss me off.

Can I remind you we’re still in the relegation zone. Until we pull away he will be subject to criticism. And rightly so.
Yes it’s great we won but the league still has to be priority. Hopefully his idea was winning mentality and momentum.
Not wanting to open a can of worms but why was boufal taken off for yoshi?

I don’t need reminding thanks. Please remember that I don’t think he’s the right man tor us, like many others. Unlike many others that doesn’t mean I will criticise his every breath as some others seem to do.

On Boufa/Mayal I have said several times:

    1. He may have been reacting to Watford’s change (can I remind you he was criticised for not reacting to their change last time we played them) and moving to 3 CBs

    3. On Boufal, he may have decided that he wanted Boufal for both matches and took
Him off for the last half an hour with Wednesday in mind... you know for that relegation game.

Now all I’ve posted is conjecture. We don’t know, but it is all possible yet too many of our fans on here are not prepared to even consider these possibilities. It is simply a chance for them to bash him again.

I’ll remind you again, I don’t think he is the manager for us, but I am prepared to consider his actions rather than just bash him.

I can pretty much guarantee the criticism would still be there even if we were in the top 4. If you read back through the thread or even listen to the interview with Adam Blackmore, your question will be answered.

Not many mentions about PEHs strike since the game. I can’t wait for that lad to score.

I think he’ll combust when he does get one :)

I think FLT makes a god point about Boufal being saved for Wednesday but the problem was he did not replace him for an attacking playing and went for another defender. I would have looked Long to have had more assistance up front. It seemed a weird decision when Cedric looked to have taken a knock and when Steve Davis was particularly ineffectual. There are no grumbles from me about the first half performance where we played well and the football was entertaining. The issues stemmed purely from the substitution which gave Watford the initiative although, thankfully, they were pretty inept up front. Worth remembering that this was a Watford side with a good number of key players missing through injury. It was not a full-strength line up that they fielded.

I would like to see a home tie in the next round and, hopefully, not a Premier League team. It is more interesting to see teams that you don't generally get to watch during the season. A lower league team would be perfect although we might want to avoid Wigan! (Funny listening to Adam Blackmore's comments on Solent about Paul Cook - he never seems to be able to resist a dig at him.)

That’s it? Good debate mate. Well done.

I take it from that you have no genuine comment to counter my view :emoticon-0148-yes:

Like resting Boufal for 20 mins is the key to Wednesday when his left back has gone off feeling his hamstring and he’s left his hobbling right back on to get battered. Get a grip.

Ian, just out of interest here (no dig), a couple of months back you were defending MP2 strongly saying how much better things were than last year and that we should give him time.

At what point did you change your view, as you posted recently he is out of his depth?
