Exactly, seems simple but they deffo need to work on it. Who gives the initial decision that something needs looking at?...a 4th official? Like the corner when Mign was being impeded, who made that decision initially? They did get it right but it needs refining.

they need to sort out who calls it. did the ref tonight call every goal for review? every West Brom one anyway. that shows no faith in his linesman imo you hand appeals to managers and let them lose them if wrong. works in cricket you make a have a ref saying it's a goal them some fuss and a conversation on a radio where players are shouting at him to not change or change. thats chaos right there. make it simple and take all that chaos out of it.

klopp On his thoughts on the result and Liverpool’s performance… In the decisive parts of the game around the goals it was poor. Bad defending. Bad defending most of the time means taking the wrong decision, but we scored a fantastic first goal. We go 1-0 up which is perfect in a game like this usually, but then it felt like it was a second later we conceded a goal. I think it was a minute, but if you take away the celebrations it was probably a second. Long ball but we win the first one, then open ball and we lose that challenge when we could have shot the ball somewhere, into the stand or whatever and then it’s done. We lose the second challenge as well and then the disaster starts, if you want, with the run of Rodriguez and a fantastic finish. Second goal, similar; Rodriguez alone in the box, which makes absolutely no sense. We lose him in midfield, they pass the ball to the side, we don’t feel the responsibility in this situation obviously and then he can score a second one. The third one was unbelievable because it’s really easy to defend, you only have to push up then Dawson is 100 per cent offside, but he wasn’t. When you saw his celebration, it looked like ‘what can I do? If they leave me alone then I have to use the chance.’ Missing the penalty, not sure, probably would have helped, but we missed it and then we tried in the second half of course. We changed the system three or four times today. We scored late and then how it is in a game like this, we tried, we pushed, but in the end they defend, big hearts and try everything. They deserved it, to be honest. I don’t like to say it but it’s the truth, West Brom deserved it so compliments to Alan and his side. On the use of VAR… I think it is normal. Of course it will change things. Is it nice that West Brom celebrates a goal and then somebody tells them it’s not a goal? Usually in these two situations after the game we talk about it and I have to explain a defeat which maybe wasn’t deserved because we didn’t get a penalty and they scored another goal. We had big aims in this competition, we wanted to show that at least that we really wanted to stay in this competition. So of course half-time was already time to talk about it. After the game I didn’t do it so far, but tomorrow we have to. On looking to begin another lengthy unbeaten run at Anfield… Yes, that would be a good idea. Look, it’s not the first game I’ve lost, it’s not the first game I’ve wanted to win really desperately and I lost it. They don’t stop feeling maximum average, it’s just a bad feeling. But it’s deserved, for me, for the boys, it’s deserved. I thought the crowd did really, really well. Obviously they remembered better the good performances here than we did and at the end they appreciated that we at least tried to sort our problems. Cant remember what game it was (think was arsenal Chelsea semi) and they were talking about offsides and the fact that you can rule a goal out if offside isn’t given but you can’t give them a goal if offside is incorrectly called when it shouldn’t be and the play is stopped. Someone on commentary mentioned that he wondered if it meant Lino’s wouldn’t flag for anything that’s even close to marginal now with the safety of var to cancel out if they let one go. This is has been my whole issue with var for offsides and things, it’s fine when someone scores (like tonight) but no consistency when it comes to just general open play and some offficials may just not give certain things with that safety net behind them.
I'm just not a fan at all. Didn't see the game tonight but was told it took around 3 minutes? Not so bad for penalties but imagine 5/6 a game which is where it will get to with some refs I think. Also imagine scoring a later winner in a cup semi final (for example) and then having to wait 3/4 minuets to see if it counts or not.

I agree. I've said so all along. Others say give it time, and I suppose we're going to have to, but I don't hold out much hope for it.
It's usually, well a little gets lost because of his grasp of English etc, but he's a stubborn ****er, clubs like those in the top six around us are desperately trying to make things happen now, but Jurgen takes things in his stride like he's got all the time in the world to put things right. As much as I like him as a person and manager he needs to realise after tonight and Swansea we are slipping in the wrong direction and it needs addressing pronto.. Cheers Jurgen.
If anything it will get worse imo. He's a post I wrote on our board earlier in response to someone telling me it took 3 minutes for the pen decisoin. Also think we're going to get **** loads of extra penalties for things purely because 'there was contact'.
After his ban (red card v citeh) and injury lay off he just hasn't picked up again. I'm sure he will, but his decision making isn't great atm
Seems odd as after last season I thought he was going to keep pushing on and on but hasn't really happened for him this year.
The VAR thing is only good if it works, using tonight as an example proves nothing, if it was used for example in the Chelsea v Spurs game when Spurs title challenge took a nosedive the game would've lasted until midnight. The first VAR decision tonight showed the linesman to be at fault, but he'll still get his pay cheque and be available for the next game, if VAR is to work inept officials need weeding out and replacing. PS, well played and we'll done WBA.
Presuming the clock gets stopped but it doesn't appear too. First half tonight had 4 mins (I think) injury time. But that included 2 injury stoppages and two substitutions. If they are going to take so many minutes on VAR then injury times will/should increase substantially.
