Ollie offers his Bristol City defeat verdict

    Matt Webb @mattwebb987

RANGERS manager Ian Holloway reflected on a tough day at the office, following QPR's 2-0 Sky Bet Championship reverse at the hands of Bristol City.

Hosts City were dealt a big blow in the 32nd minute, when defender Nathan Baker was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Josh Scowen.

However, that didn't hold back Lee Johnson's Premier League-chasing outfit - with the R's unable to seize on their numerical advantage thereafter.

Once the second goal went in, we looked totally beat.

    IAN HOLLOWAY

Speaking after the full-time whistle, Holloway told www.qpr.co.uk: "That was bitterly disappointing.

"I thought it was going to be hard coming here - especially after the way they played against Man City [in the EFL Cup on Tuesday].

"So we needed to move the ball to burst their bubble - but that's as bad as I've seen my team attempt to do it.

"Yes, you have to give City credit. They got around us and they put us under pressure. But we had to move the ball better to try to tire them out.

"Unfortunately, we either gave it away or kicked it out of play. They only got stronger after the sending off.

"We got done by a set-play [for the first goal] - as we did this time last week against Middlesbrough. It was damaging and I'm not happy about it."

Ollie added: "At the start of the second half, I thought we did what we should do - but we didn't score. That's another bugbear of mine. We didn't take the opportunities we created.

"I thought we were going to come back into it, we had long enough to, then we lost a tackle on the halfway line and they worked the ball to score again.

"It was a magnificent performance from their 10 men - but I was bitterly disappointed with us not moving the ball anything like my team normally do. That was absolutely horrendous, from my point of view.

"Once the second goal went in, we looked totally beat. That's hard to accept and it's not good enough.

"I'm fuming and I'll be having a big meeting about that on Monday."

I think there will be a few in the same boat mate. As I've stated before the club is in decline and empty seats only confirm that

Everyone seemed happy with the team picked today so what went so wrong? The players have to take some responsibility. Were we really undone by poor tactics or was it sub par performances and mistakes all over the pitch? I'm not defending Ollie as such but if he got selection right how can he really legislate for players losing control or passes going onto touch etc. That said we are clearly in trouble.

Don't think ive once been happy with his selections this season. The bloke never ever learns from these stupid tactics he keeps on insisting on.

Awful performance today, they were slow, with no width. Tactics second half seemed to be Robinson long throws, or aimlessly hoofing the ball anywhere up the pitch.

Just on train back. In 40 years of following the Hoops this is the most insipid front line I remember since the halcyon days of Priskin and Bent. We have defenders who don’t know how to defend, a midfield lacking creativity and a shot scared forward line. The good news is that on today’s performance not one of our players will be picked off in the transfer window .... or maybe that’s the bad news. I would give Smithies 7/10. All the rest are 4 or below. Another £150 (travel, ticket, food and drink for two) wasted.

WLS report Ollie saying Pawel is out with concussion picked up in an U23 game Monday, and that he's not going anywhere, but maybe out for a while too.

If someone told you the opposition would be down to 10 men after 30 or so mins would you have still expected a 2-0 scoreline?

I trust you on Apple related stuff and this looks too good to be true. Got 80% of the way through downloading, about to install the certificate when I paused and decided to look at it again.

I don’t stream anything off dodgy sites nowadays. It’s too nerve wracking. The Kodi box, which if it gets corrupted is at least insulated from everything else, is just a pain in the arse, Kodi worked much better on the 24 hours I had it on the Mac before I got nervous. What I need is a redundant iPad which I can really play around with. If my company ever offers me early retirement I’ll keep the big screen iPad Pro they gave me (which is so covered in company security I really can only use it for work) and wipe the one I’m using now to stream stuff.

If your stuff is still working in a couple of months and you have had no problems I’ll think again.

Just read Ollie’s response to the loss. If you can’t keep the ball against 10 men, discussions are needed.

Is it time to break up the holy trinity of Scowen, Luongo & Freeman? Things need a shake up. Manning’s introduction last season coincided last season with a turnaround in furtunes. Eze has to get a start. Shodipo?
