So DF is happy with his transfer dealings according to PD - "The likes of Todd Cantwell and Harry Toffolo may head out on loan, but Farke would be happy to see no more business between now and next Wednesday’s 11pm deadline. Farke also confirmed on Friday there was nothing in national press reports James Maddison was on West Ham’s radar." See previous post. I'd certainly be happy if the only remaining transfer activity is loans for TC and Toffolo. ONLY 137 hours to go!!!!! http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-farke-transfer-strategy-revealed-1-5371536
Really disappointing Todd and Harry won’t get their chance. In a nothing Season, was a really good opportunity. Like with Lewis.
I hear what you're saying, but Todd at best will only get brief appearances and I'd be surprised if Harry even makes the bench. I used to think the same as you FML, but canario and RER have persuaded me to see the sense of Todd especially going out on loan and getting regular games. I don't think Harry will quite make the grade to be part of the squad next season, s will be sold for a pittance and then go on to greater things. Hope your foot is less painful today.
Toffolo is 4th choice LB right now, and out of contract in the summer. A loan move to help him find a club in the summer is probably best for all parties.
It's a shame. He's better than Husband, and Stiepermann is in no way a LB. So he's the second best LB at the club I think.
Toffolo is coming back from an injury so that might be a factor, but the signing of Husband and the emergence of Lewis suggest that Harry will leave in the summer.
These people just haven't got a scooby what NCFC's hand to mouth existence actually means. I mean, look at this crap: Best you get on to them, 1950, and give them an insight into the workings of a self-financing club, minus any further parachute payments and how it is forced to function. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/f...-to-secure-this-last-ditch-transfer-business/
Yes, I read that Cromer and it's just another example of bloggers simply making stuff up to churn out pseudo journalistic rubbish.
We don't need to sell Maddison. Surely from a financial point of view it makes sense to keep him. Hes on a long contract, if he keeps going as he is then his value is going to increase and if we manage to get a playoff place (which I accept is unlikely but not totally out of the question) then he will gain great experience. My only concern is if a top 6 club comes in for him with the offer of a loan back for the rest of the season, then the club might sell him. If not then I really don't why for financial or playing reasons why we'd sell him.
If he goes to a top club he'll be on the bench with an occasional cameo as sub. With us he's started every game under DF and is gaining huge experience. The time will come, but not yet.
I can think of a couple of reasons, firstly cash flow. We'll owe various sums in outstanding transfer fees, wages, etc between now and the summer. The club might feel it best to cash in now, know they can pay their debts for the foreseeable future, and know the amount they can spend in the summer window. Late in the January window is when transfer fees get mad, so if someone comes in with £35m or something then the club might go for it. Waiting to the summer risks injury, loss of form, or poor attitude at not being sold, all of which would hit his price. Realistically, can he impress any more than he is at this level? There's only so much clubs will pay for a championship player. That said, of course I hope the club holds onto him. The way transfer fees seem to go up and up each window, the longer we hold him the more clubs are going to have to spend on him. And if he can spearhead us to a play-off berth this season, then that's a handy financial boost either way. And of course, it's a joy to watch him in yellow and green!
Yes is the short answer, whilst he's done really well this season, he hasn't even done a full season yet. Yes prices go mad in January, but generally it's spent on older established stars ! not on up and coming players. He's very young in his career and still developing, so is only going to get better. He doesn't strike me as the type of player that's going to down tools and if he did it would only harm him going forward and lead to people questioning his character. We don't need to sell now, we're still going to need to sell players next season, assuming of course we're still in the championship. I just don't see any reason why the club would want to sell him in this window, unless of course we can sell him and get him loaned back at least for the rest of the season. I can't see any club paying anywhere near 35m for Maddison, we'd struggle to get 20m.
Then we shouldn't sell him. We are pretty much a 1 man team. He's worth at least that to our club at the moment, and the money is out there for those clubs.
I agree we would be lucky to get anything north of £20m at this point. I want to keep him at least til the summer. His attitude is great. I wish some of it would rub off on Marcus Edwards.
