I really don’t want to add more fuel to the fire and because I am a Sunderland fan I’m in a awkward position because I know some will accuse me of bias, I honestly try not to be biased when I have my super mod hat on.

I have read about how this is an open forum, everyone can visit where they like but I have the advantage of visiting just about every board on this forum on at least a weekly basis, some on a daily basis, all are very different.

Each board is owned by the fans of the club and they set the tone and rules. Its not an exact science but the mods on that board try to run it how the majority like it, naturally there will always be fans who say they don’t agree and some leave.

Its not the mods job and certainly not mine to say this is how you must act, apart from the basic rules, racism, abuse, threats and constant spamming and wumming.

Some boards have next to no fans from other teams, threads deleted are the norm and many boards have fans from other teams banned from their boards. I must ban around 5 fans a week from a board and 3 or 4 from the forum.

Now you may say that terrible, freedom of speech and all that but its how the fans like it and TBH nearly every time I ban someone from a board I get a PM saying fair enough, its how they play the game.

The Sunderland and Newcastle boards are the two that rarely delete threads and neither have people banned from their boards, both have a few banned from the forum but its always a last resort. We tend to solve disputes by fighting it out and usually it blows over and all goes back to normal.

The reason I’m posting this is to try and explain how the forum works, again please lets not go into this is wrong or that is wrong, if its not our team or board why get up tight over it, I don’t agree with a lot and talk people round but in the end I have to respect the wishes of a teams fans. Respect is what this forum is built on and not always saying our way is right and everyone else is wrong. Our way is right for us and only us.

You know that Cest and Biffa have left but one more regular poster PM’d me and asked me to delete his membership, I’m not saying who because he PM’d me quietly, I cant just sit back and watch good people leave and do nothing , hence this thread.

Please respect other posters and to all visiting fans please respect this is the Sunderland board, you are guests and welcome but we ask for some respect.

At the same time Sunderland fans this is a multi team forum and banter is part of it, if a visiting fan is taking the piss let him know but please show some respect, just because they have Newcastle under their name does not mean we should tell them to piss off, if you don’t want to talk to them ignore them.

Right now both Newcastle and Sunderland have problems and its not important who has the bigger problems, problems and passionate people can lift emotions and make us ready to fight anyone and everyone. All I’m asking is that you log off, have a drink of tea, coffee or whatever strong drink suits, calm down then come back.

The mods are just as upset, just as angry and to be frank just as pissed off so help us out lads, Newcastle and Sunderland mods want to help but we also want to take part. A bit of self moderating will help a lot.

    Cheers

This is the pivotal part really. Very good point, but you should note that that guy Biffa left because he wanted to abuse any Newcastle fan no matter what they'd said. He didn't like visitors from other teams and so went to a forum where that doesnt happen.

Although my visits are becoming less frequent these days I was one of the early movers to NOT606 and your steer has always reflected my personal approach - You occupy an unenviable and difficult position Syd but you have my support for the principles you advocate.
As for the drift away from not 606 of some of the posters I can really understand it, some must understand you reap what you sow but beyond that some of the opinions - and we all have them - are so poorly thought out that it does make you feel like not bothering. No threat, no dummy out of the pram - my contributions are so few I'd barely be missed, but we all have a responsibility to one another in here to lift the debate otherwise the inevitable exodus will continue I fancy.

I think you're being a bit unfair mate here...Cestria had already made the point he was making many, many times previously, and there was a number of sarcastic responses made, including Syd's that just reflected that point..There does come a point when posters repeat themselves over and over again, that others who reply just run out of sensible responses..That's my take on it any way...Syd might see it totally different for all I know.

this forum has changed as all forums do whether it's been since 606 closed or the introduction of the cross board thread who knows but some people need to not take it so seriously at times

So what you're trying to say is..Sunderland fans are getting pissed off and leaving because we beat them in the derby? Cos that's all I've seen, the amount on in-fighting your board has been having is complete madness, it's civil war with the Bruce in and Bruce out brigades..

I've not posted for a while....always been around reading bits here and there...but to be honest the out of season 'banter' wasn't for me.

Now the season is back I was hoping for a litle more football threads but it seems that the past few month has seen a decline in decent posts or threads disintergrating into boring slanging matches.

I'm sad to see people go from the board but it's their choice. Since I came across from 606 there have been quite a few morons coming on board (our side as well I must add...not just THEM) and its spoiled the board a little for me. That's the important bit. FOR ME. If everyone agreed then this would be an extrememly boring place to live.

    Now...I'm going to post a new thread...my first in quite a while...:police:
