Hopefully a 20 year "loan". To counter that; unfortunately, The Mirror is reporting that Joe bloody Cole wants to come to Spurs. And we all know how much Harry loves him!!
Interesting that Modric gets lots of stick on here for wanting out of his contract but it is OK for the club to want to sell players despite the existence of exactly the same sort of contract.
Players don't have to sign a contract and even once we've accepted a deal for one of our players it's still up to them to agree to leave.
Wow. They could do us a quadruple favour! Take Jenas and Crouch off us and at the same time prevent us signing Cole and Parker. New second favourite club if that happens
Hmm, not too excited by the prospect of loaning Jenas. I don't see how top Premiership clubs benefit from loaning out players over the age of 23 to be honest. I'd rather take the money or keep him on the books than have him in limbo, potentially running down his price as his contract runs down.
Just seems inconsistent to me that if a player talks to a new employer with the intention of them making an offer to buy out his contract then he is a pariah but if the club does the same thing that is quite normal.
The club own his contract, not the other way around. It is illegal to speak to another club about a move, without your current club's permission. Should the club decide they want rid of a player, his contract is protected and any sacking would be subject to compensation amounting to the value of the contract. Should the player decide they want to leave they have to wait for an offer to be accepted until they can talk to another club, the protection works both ways. However in the case of Modric both he and Chelsea look to have broken several rules, which is where the real animosity comes from as it's not simply a case of a player trying to move on.
I agree with your analysis but this is only true legally because of the registration rules for footballers. If it was a normal employment contract then that would not be the case: I'm surprised that football continues to get away with such rules.
Well I'd be more than happy to carry him and then come back for his bags but I need something a little more concrete before I book my flight and get there from Finland, keep me posted though
I'll get the rope and burlap sack... However, in team news for the Hearts game, our site has a worrying use of the English language:
He can play alongside Joey 'Im a nutter who can quote, but not spell Nietzsche' Barton who is apparently getting a medical with QPR as we speak.
