It would be fantastic if we could play a competitive side comprised of nearly all youth players but it's not very realistic.
The Murphy's were good enough and Lewis looks promising but expecting another 4 or 5 academy players to come replacing Maddisson and Tettey doesn't seem credible.

    So true, GM.
As regards a striker, I just posted a tweet from Michael Bailey suggesting the lad from Paderborn has mileage in it, so watch this space - and, as Take That once said "have a little patience" ;)

Look how thin our squad is, look how we played 120mins vs Chelsea and then couldn't make many
GRRRR8 post General and II have to agree that GF is putting emphasis on cup games when I'm sure that the vast majority of fans would prefer us to concentrate on the league. Re Godfrey - I think DF 'is damned if he brings him back and DF is damned if he leaves him on loan!!!' Personally, I'd rather he was here.
I also wait 'with bated breath' for confirmation that we HAVE signed a striker!!!!!

I'd disagree that its confirmation that we don't care about this season, it's just that when it's weighed up, the decision was that Godfrey's potential contribution to our first team was deemed less significant than the progress he could make on loan. Whilst he may have broken through and become a key first team player, right now he's probably still behind Tettey, Reed, Trybull, and now Edwards and soon Thompson for a midfield berth. Sure injuries have left us a little light in that area, and players have had to play when more tired than Farke may have wanted, but I don't think adding Godfrey to the mix would have significantly improved the situation.

I agree with that DH. Next season neither Tettey or Reed are likely to be in the squad and that's the time for Godfrey and hopefully Thompson to become key players at DM. Trybull is more an attacking CM competing with Vrancic and Steipermann there, though he can fill in at DM.

Looking at our young players, we're not that far off them challenging at most positions:

    Fonkeu and Abrahams up front,
    Murphy WL,
    Maddison AM,
    Cantwell and Jaiyesimi AM/WR,
    Godfrey and Thompson DM,
    Phillips CM,
    Lewis LB/WB,
    Effete and Crowe CB,
    Ramsey RB/WB,
    Matthews GK

Even then, I've probably missed some.

    I'll give it some thought!!!!

Only a couple of things -
    1. I'm fairly certain that JM won't be at CR next season.
    2. Canwell plays more centrally than on the wings.
    3. Wallis (CB) got MotM on Monday and should be in the reckoning
    4. I wonder how long before we see Middleton go out on loan - he'll TERRIFY some of the more senior defenders and he's been signed till the end of next season.

Can't remember being so loaded with potential talent. Our cup winning team had much less than we have now. ( I thought Ben Wyatt would make it, where is he now ?).

I remember really rating Kyle Callan-Mcfadden at CB too. He had a brief spell with Orlando City B after we released him, and is now at Sligo Rovers in Ireland.

I tend to keep an eye on the players from that youth cup winning side. So far it's hard to say the club really made any mistakes in who they kept and let go.
