This appointment is bizarre, even by FA standards.

You would think the FA had failed to dodge enough bullets by now, why the hell make such a strange appointment. If they don’t rate the female candidates (were there any) surely there were skilled, qualified and experienced male candidates out there. Neville doesn’t fit that description (Unless his sister is going to be his right hand man (sic))

The tweets are a sideshow, but, unfortunately, they do throw some light on his thinking (or that if his Tweet circle)- humour or not. That’s all the rabid dogs need to hound him and the FA should have been prepared and pre-emptive.

What is really shocking is that he took the job, his close, trusted circle failed to advise him of how ridiculous this looks.

Just when you think it can’t get worse...

I am going to put this out there.

I couldn't care less who manages the women's football team. I have watched it and did not enjoy it at all, and I found the whole completely unenjoyable to watch.

Good to see the witch hunt has begun, can't we just wish someone well in a job?

Completely ridiculous non-event of a story and I can’t believe anyone thought it worthy of a thread.

Crap appointment due to his lack of experience, not his sex. Given recent history you’d think that the FA could have found a suitable female, but if not a very experienced male to avoid this type of obvious criticism

The tweet is a bit poor, but not hugely distasteful. It read fairly tongue in cheek, but again if the FA already knew then they know it would come up...about their inexperienced appointee. Poor judgement from the FA

Having said that it’s an odd story because some of the things said by females sound fairly odd to. I’d think it would have been worse if Neville had said "It is different. We deal with emotional things, women have women's problems, monthly problems, relationship problems. " Sounds ridiculously sexist to me (and suggests men don’t have emotions or relationship problems) yet that was said by Pauline the ex goalie who was criticising Neville!

This is absolutely spot on, whilst his gender should have nothing to do with it and a number of prominent female figures have reiterated that they don't mind that a man got the job they are secretly fuming that the job didn't go to a woman. They keep letting the veil slip with snide, sexist remarks in their otherwise typically PC statements, equality is great until you don't get your own way.

You look at the way national managers are treated and it's no surprise that the experienced shortlisted candidates wanted nothing to do with the job. They're not got to leave their successful club careers for the FA circus.

Firstly this team is ranked 1st in Europe and 3rd in the world, if they don't make the World Cup final or actually win it they'll be labelled as failures by everyone in the media and their reputation will take a battering.

Then there's all the crap that comes with the national jobs, look how big Sam, Mark Sampson and now Neville have been treated, it's like people actually want them to fail or at least fill the news columns with controversial stories on them, anyone with an ounce of sense should stay well clear.

Its gutter press.apparently sells papers. I remember one world cup when there was more press following the fans than the team. Think it was Italy 90. The press must of been gutted when England started progressing and they had to report on the football.

    The tweets.

The promoter arranged for someone to learn and sign the words to the entire Little Mix set live, taking them to court for not getting the poor bugger to also learn the words for the two support acts is petty and unnecessary.

Tweets- agreed, although that’s the way it appears to be now...

Little Mix, no. The promoter had to be pushed by her to arrange the Little Mix Signer, which is piss poor. Having accepted they had an obligation to do that why not do it for the complete show that the ticket (not cheap tickets) covered? I believe it’s a legal requirement (maybe a tad loose in definition) and that the Signer came from a specialist company who would have covered the full event if contracted to do so. So it’s just money and social prejudice. Surprised you support the promoter.

And you think it’s common sense to get half the value of something you’re entitled to. The promotor has an obligation to do it, they are not doing anyone a favour.

I think that’s the viewpoint of someone without hearing impairment. Enough said.

The real story is that Phil Neville is a wet cabbagey fart of a man. He'd be the last person I'd appoint to anything. Nevermind his total lack of experience.
