Wages maybe? I am thinking very similarly to you but I guess that Klopp knows him more than most and is well connected to Dortmund.
He's 29 in June so age isn't an issue really.......Klopp has said in the past he is not interested in players he has worked with previously
I think the age is the bigger issue. Since FSG arrived, we've sign just five players over 27yrs of age, three were free transfers.
According to reports, Liverpool have reached an agreement with Monaco to sign Thomas Lemar this month or in the summer. The Reds have been battling Arsenal for the 22 year-old’s signature for some time and now appear to have won the race. Monaco rejected a bid of £92 million from the Gunners on transfer deadline day last summer. Had the deal gone through, Alexis Sanchez would likely be playing in a Manchester City shirt this season. Since then, Lemar has continued to be linked with an exit from Monaco with Arsenal maintaining
Could be true, when you were linked with Reus there was an article on ESPN that said not many Dortmund players would be happy to play for Klopp again.
I suppose if 50m euro or £50m was the price there is no sell on value once he is 32 or 33. A big wage on top makes it a pricey proposition
I really doubt a top club looks at sell on value when buying a top class player, if you get 4/5 years out of him and win things, go farer in Europe etc because of him the fee is paid back in prize money.
true. zlatan won you 2 cups sort off... contributed for the big wage 50mil for auba for 25 league goals and a cl spot is a bargain tbh.
He got rid of Sakho for disciplinary issues... can’t see him going for Auba when it’s been well reported and he’s been dropped for same issues.
