Personally, i put it down to ambition, i wonder how far Fulham can go as a club, massive debt, small stadium etc.

We don't want MON he is just as bad for being stubborn and playing players out of position. I agree with BB's earlier shout in David Moyes, if we do get rid of Bruce, Moyes would be who I would want not MON, trust me I live down here in Villa land and MON would be just like Bruce. Look at the whole Luke Young situation at Villa.

But I think Bruce should be given until Jan, he bought these players, he has to be given a run with them, if we sack him now a new manager will not have time to get players in or build a team, it could work against us. I agree what Bruce did last night was ridiculous, but in the derby and pool games his team and tactics were good right up until newcastle scored then he went to peices.

January is too late, as we'd have no time for a new gaffer to sort out the left side.

I'm prepared to sit here till the end of October and review, that's a big olive branch from last night, when i wanted the man to be eaten by bears.

Do you think Hiughes was after the Chelsea job? When he left it looked like a job was lined up. Why leave a 'safe well paid job'. Strange one that.

    Maybe so.

I like him, he plays good football, the Blackburn side, and Fulham last season, were great to watch at times.

Well you could be right, I expect us to win a few games before then but if we don't then he will have to go. I want Moyes, not MON or Hughes.

Moyes would be any sane mans number 1 choice, is it achievable is the rub.

Not MON. He is so overrated. Anyone can win a title at Celtic (See Gordon Strachan), and he had a couple of decent seasons at Villa by spending ridiculous money on players and wages. (Which Bruce has done too, but at least hes recouped a fair bit too in Bruces favour).

He has also turned us down before and I have no idea where this idea he is a Sunderland fan came from.

Oh the life of a football manager. Bruce hasn't even gone and we are talking about his replacement, and the differences of opinions over them is clear to see. One thing I will say is that I don't think MON is a Sunderland fan and also doubt he will come here as there is no money, Keane and Bruce have spent it all. Don't get me wrong the selections and panic tactics Bruce has shown is unforgivable and I now fear the damage has already been done for Quinns dream of filling the stadium and unfortunatley the dye was cast when he appointed Bruce. My fear now is all we can do is sit tight and hope for the best as no one would want the job unless they can have a hefty kitty.

The question is not whether MON is a better manager than Bruce. Of course he is.

The real question is whether Bruce is up to the job. For me he isn't and the original poster on this thread has it right. His results speak for themselves and as for anyone who thinks that this is a knee jerk reaction because we've played three and won none and we only have a single goal to our name should look back at what has happened since January. It's been a lamentable run and if he gets the sack, as surely he should then you would have to say that this is a decision made in the cold light of day.

My OH is from Liverpool and an Everton fan and is sure that Moyes will not leave. But also reminded me of the times Moyes has fallen out with players (Mcfadden, Yobo, Yakubu, some swedish guy who never played after costing millions etc.), and points out the £10m spent on Bilyaletdinov who can hardly get a game, and that Moyes invented the 4-6-0 formation, leaving 3 strikers on the bench, not to mention the numerous injury crises Everton have had. Sounding a bit familiar eh?

However Hughes may be a good shout although I never liked him as a player and he seems quite obnoxious as a person. However his Man U connections would be good for all the lads we have here now and might help continue the good relationship we seem to have with them.

But of course Bruce has not gone (yet) and I think he will have the next 6 fixtures, up till West Brom game on 1st October, to improve perfromances and results and then we will see. There is a 2 week international break then and that might be the time to make the decision if it is needed.

Seems the timing of that International break may be perfect for us to step back and reflect.

I completely agree with the sentiment of the article, and I'm also not one to call for a manager's head after 3 games, nor will I start now... BUT, if we lose to Swansea and Chelsea, Bruce will find things very uncomfortable.

Living in Michigan now, I don't see as many games at the SoL as I'd like, but I certainly see every game online or on TV and am well aware of Bruce's weaknesses. The biggest problem seems to be his lack of ability to make changes to influence a game - a Plan B.

Is Martin O'Neill the answer though? My initial reaction was yes, he's a self confessed 'Sunderland fan' and he's had some success with 'bigger' clubs. BUT, as I remember, didn't Villa fans have complaints about MoN's 'Plan B'? Wasn't his ability to play anything other than long ball football called into question on numerous occasions?

Ever since Peter Reid left the club we've been missing one thing. Passion. A manager with enough passion and motivational skills to match the 42,000 strong faithful at the SoL each week. We've got a group of players who should have no problem beating teams 'on paper', but step onto that field and it seems to count for very little. If things don't improve, there's one guy I'd LOVE to see on the sidelines at the SoL... Ian Holloway.

    Discuss.

Nobody is judging him on three games. That's the point.

I think they are, you can't judge him on last season because 10th is the best we have finished for over a decade and that was with an injury crisis and the loss of DB, neither which were Bruce's fault. Its fair to say he has not replaced Bent yet but he still has a few days to do that. I will judge him after the next 6 games.

I'm definitely not judging him on three games, he has been tactically inept since he arrived.
