His goal per minute played is very good though. Last season he averaged a goal per 90 minutes, last season he average 0.82 goals per 90 minutes played. If we play to his strengths, which we tend to (crosses into the box) then he will be a very good signing for us.
Best video I've seen of his goals. No ****ty music, lots of goals - I think all 42 for Estudiantes, some under MP - and lots of great GOOOLLLLLL commentary.
Probably they just added a new paragraph at the beginning of an existing piece about our interest. Quite common but in this case, someone should have spotted it.
Peter Coates, a British football writer who covers Argentinean football for Marca, Gazzetta, WhoScored etc (among others) has this to say on Carrillo - the following are his tweets today... He's a pretty classic number nine - is very good in the air, can hold it up and link play but has a decent touch. A good finisher so with confidence & decent service he should score goals It is still a bit of a risk to pay that kind of money & perhaps he won't be prolific but could still be very useful for Southampton. His aerial skills should provide a focal point to brings others in It is still a bit of a risk to pay that kind of money & perhaps he won't be prolific but could still be very useful for Southampton. And if you look beyond his first season, his scoring rate is also pretty acceptable. 7 in 19 in the league in his second season; and 4 in 15 in third season. Almost bang on the nose of 1 in 3 over those two seasons - am sure we'd all take that.
He's obviously not a bad player by any means and I'd be naive to think we could actually attract better forwards during this window, but I hardly jumped out of my seat when we were first linked with him and still feel the same now the deal is almost complete . Maybe it's just the general mood surrounding the club at the moment in general , I don't know, but I'm far from excited at this news.
I'm going to make myself look a right geeky goon now, but I thought it was the storm troopers who said that when they've first arrived at ME, greedo at that time was unaware of the droids importance to the empire and was in fact under orders from the huts to track down solo and the MF? P.s - can't believe I've just said that
This signing is very underwhelming but I appreciate how well you guys are trying to convince yourselves that he’s better than what he is. We’re desperate for a signing so he’s now a world beater....fact. Top scorer by March now I’ve sad that.
I have to confess that whenever South Today does an item about the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge, as the footage gets going I can here Sir Alec Guiness in my head intoning, “these aren’t the Druids you’re looking for..” Whenever I see footage of Druids, I always do. And some of you always will, now.
