Will Vaulks for half a mill? Who is he? Maybe just the rumour mill again but it's significant he played under Warnock at Rotherham - just like Halford http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/01/2...-monitoring-will-vaulks-for-ibrox-move-but-c/ EDIT THAT - It looks like he joined Rotherham after Warnock left.
I don't think we will get him but if we did he would potentially add a much greater goal threat from the middle of the park (along the lines of Kavanagh and Koumas) - something we have lacked for years. I guess we hoped Tomlin would provide that but there is little evidence so far. Paterson has improved our scoring rate from the middle of the park but Dack would add to that. My reservation would be that his achievements have been in leagues 1 and 2 and could he transfer that to a higher level again?
Bluey - the problem is, Grabban apart (you either like him or not), it's a question of 3 or 4 mill for someone who hasn't done it at this level or probably 10 mill for someone who has. It isn't just a question of headline transfer fees either. Someone from a lower division will take the opportunity to play at the top of the Championship level for a fraction of what someone from a Prem club would want - unless they're looking for a pension at the end of their careers. Unless the club is going to spend big bucks up front and a lucrative wage contract on a "been there, done that" striker, the best we can hope for is a wise decision to be made on someone like Dack.
Contrary to what WoL says, Dack is not a striker. He is a midfielder with a positive habit of scoring goals. While Dack is at nowhere near the same level, Frank Lampard is a comparative figure. I also believe we need a striker with a good goals to games ratio who has performed well in the Championship. Grabban is the best of those being considered with a 1 in 3 track record. I would be happy, no, delighted to see us sign both of them. I think Dack is unlikely to come with Villa and Leeds both interested. The player says he and his family are settled in Blackburn. His manager has made the usual building for the future, not wanting to lose his best players noises but from what I see neither have categorically said no - unlike the Bolton manager about Madine. As ever, time will tell.
Whilst he's not officially a "striker", I'd take a midfielder who can score regular goals any time. His strike rate is better than anyone we've got at the club at the moment - striker or midfield. Different division maybe, but you carry the knack of scoring with you at any level. Tomlin was supposed to be the "marquee" signing for us this season but he's turned out to be only a scout's tent.... Someone like Dack at his age could be a good investment for now and the future. An older, and dare I say it a more expensive candidate would, like financial investments, be no guarantee of future success. Plenty of those with past reputations fail to repeat it and have little or no sell on value once into their 30's. It's a conundrum that all managers have to juggle with and are ultimately resposible for their decisions.
Our lack of goals from central midfield this season has been a headache. Haven’t had a decent goalscorer from open play in that area since Whittingham and before him Kavanagh. Our promotion rivals seem to have a goal scoring midfielder. Maybe we have them but they just don’t get into goal scoring areas. Mind you our lack of goals from our forwards is also acute
Another striker thrown up by WoL, Enzo Crivelli, from a Ligue 1 club in France, Angers. Hardly prolific with 18 goals in 90 games and only 1 in 10 this season up to mid November. Not what we need. Where do these random names come from? Must be agents trying to sow seeds. Hope there is no truth in this. P.S. Reports on HITC.com sports news site that Villa and Wolves are also interested. This one says he has had a disappointing season after his move from Bordeaux so wants a fresh start. Agent clearly doing the rounds.
This Alan Nixon bloke - is he in the know? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-transfer-news-live-14194415
Well WoL says he's "respected". With a Partick Thistle emblem on his Twitter account? Neverthless, hope he's right. We need Grabban's ability to stick the airball in the onion bag.
Don't think we should try too hard - if he'd wanted to come here he'd have signed by now like Wildschut and Grujic who both wanted to play. Being more diplomatic, it might be Bournemouth holding out for a better offer but from what I've read they want him off ther books and gone - any slight variation in offers received would probably be marginal. If it is down to him (and his agent) then the quicker he signs or pisses off the better.
Maybe Blackwell was just looking, but another midfielder??? https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman....bs-john-mcginn-after-spying-mission-1-4673218
Can't sign the recognised striker we need but seem obsessed with little known midfielders and wingers. Or, again just paper talk as they have nothing concrete to tell us?
