Strangely would be one of our best ever for quite some time if that happens, and that's on the back of losing our best player. This has to come from the new management in charge of recruitment. They seem to know how to get deals happen, shame they couldn't have started earlier...
Will be better once Raul Sanllehi starts as well. (Feb 1st) Will take some responsibilities away from Arsene.
German reports seem to be saying Giroud may be going to Dortmund on loan to facilitate the Aubameyang deal. I would rather we kept him but still would be happy with Laca/Auba as our main CF's.
If it's necessary to release Auba, then so be it. I'm sure his goals and presence will more than make up for Giroud's absence plus more. With a front three of Laca, Auba and Ozil/Mki, should be enough to get us consistent goals. The big question is will Auba have a similar impact as Henry? If so, it could seriously shake up the PL and surge us up the table. We will soon find out. I think some one-to-one sessions with Henry is a good idea when he comes.
Agreed if it's needed to get the deal done give them a Giroud loan but otherwise try and keep him. Boomerang, Laca and Giroud as our striker options would be better than we have had for years.
If we get the Aubameyang deal and Evans done our squad is looking like: --------------Cech------------ ---Mustafi--Kosc--Evans-- Bellerin--Xhaka--Wilshere--Kolasinac -------------------Ozil------------- -----------Laca------Aubameyang---- -------------Ospina---------- ---Holding----Mert----Monreal-- Chambers--El Neny--Ramsey--Niles -----------------Mkhi------------ --------Giroud-----Welbeck-------- +Iwobi, Cazorla (if he ever returns) and the youth
Giroud will probably go out on loan in this deal. If we add.. Mkhitarian Aubamayang Evans In the Summer I wanna see.. Elneney - OUT for sure. Wellbeck - Sell. I like him but he's too injury prone and his end product just isnt there. Giroud - Will almost certainly leave with Auba and Laca ahead of him. New DM and a new creative midfielder. If Giroud does leave I would happily take Perez back also. He's a quality player. It's basically fantasty football at this point but things are starting to look alot more positive for the side.
Would love to see Isco or Rafinha come in in the summer. Also a CB, if we don't sign Evans now. I'd also go for somebody like N'zonzi and ship Elneny out. He wouldn't be hard to get and wouldn't break the bank. I think predominately if we could play somebody like Isco and Wilshere/Ramsey in midfield then we'd have something like we had when Cazorla was in there.
Giroud has shown he is willing to fight for his position and to be a part of a better team rather than the main man in a worse one. His agent was quoted recently as saying Giroud is happy as he will get opportunities even if it's in the europa league. I think having 3 strikers, particularly if we play 2 at the same time would give plenty of opportunities. And Giroud offers something different. I think he will probably go on loan but hopefully next season we have all 3 and it'll be a great striking selection.
I'd love Isco to be signed. We need Madrid to spend big on a midfield player so that he thinks he won't get games!
With Cazorla now targeting 2019 as his return date, we will definitely need to replace him ASAP. While I wouldnt cancel his contract, I dont expect him to do much anymore in the remaining years, and we are desperately missing a player like him.
Its worrying how long its taking Arsenal to sign Aubameyang. Hate to say it but ...seems like the same old ****. Really hope it happens but its looking less likley now IMO.
Just think it's normal negotiations to be honest. David Ornstien said last week that he expected this one to run all week as the clubs discussed a transfer fee and possible player (Giroud) into the deal. I guess we'll find out either way soon enough
Normal for Arsenal maybe. And exactly why we're so **** at transfers. This isn't normal for other clubs. Just pay the ****ing fee if you want them.
This whole Aubamyeng transfer is soo typical: 1. We just spent a record £50+ million on Lacazette. Therefore do we need another CF? 2. There's No point spending 55-60 million on Auba and playing him out wide. That's a terrible idea. He only started to really perform when Dortmund moved him into the middle. So either we plan to play 2 upfront (which is rare tthese days) or one of Auba/Lacazette need to be moved outta position. 3. It makes you wonder if we would be better served spending the money on a natural WF. Or even on the DM/CB positions. Despite all that - I would still love us to sign him because he's a TOP player.
I'm going to admit before I start that I'm playing devil's advocate a bit here... ...but 1. Yes, because Lacazette may never work out, and he will get injured at some point. You need two top-class CFs to win the League. 2. Yeah but when we play with wingbacks our "Wide" players are hardly wide. The way our front 3 play, they are so interchangeable, it doesn't matter where you put them on the teamsheet. 3. We had wingers like Gervino, Ox and Walcott and they didn't work out, and people are learning to even shut Sanchez down too. If you put a winger into the game, all you do is clog up the space that your wing-back can run into. And you take advantage of what is available. Right now we have the opportunity to get Aubameyang. Do we buy him or save the money in case the perfect DM becomes available? How will it look if one never becomes available and we sit on the cash, what are the fans going to say?
1. Lacazette and Giroud is a pretty solid combo already. 2. Soo do a lot of teams. Fundamentaly it does matter. Aubameyang's best Seasons come from playing down the middle. He was decent as a WF but he's World Class down the middle. 3. Besides Sanchez none of those players were of the required standard. If we do buy him I hope to God we play him down the middle.
