Really good win today. Likewise looking forward to seeing MOTD later. I think we needed a big response today after all of the negativity around Sanchez. Good to see Monreal and Kos getting on the score sheet on their return, but I heard that Monreal went off injured ? Anyway, if we can pull of the Mkhi and PEA deals this week, it will be a real shot in the arm for Arsenal, after what's been a pretty miserable couple of months.

We've got Mikhi now so hopefully we can nail down PEA tomorrow. Happy days!

He was playing with total freedom today and a pleasure to watch.

    Three possible reasons ?

Really wants to go and got a great offer.

Really wants to stay and got the offer he wanted from Arsenal.

Does not get on with Sanchez and is happy he is going.

    I suspect it's a combination of 2 and 3.

Hard to tell of Ozil and Sanchez had a problem with each other, it could be that Ozil just had a blinder. Either way the new guys coming in should inject some much needed oomph into our stuttering season.

I sit believe we can get into top 4 if we maintain some consistency in the league as all the others are and will drop points.

Iwobi was good today. Like I've said the loss of Sanchez should get the boy going again. I really hope Arsene keeps playing him! He will get the final decisions right. He'll get his finishing right. He has it all. We have a gem. Even Fergie has sung his praises. We need to back this guy. I'd hate to have him excel at another club.

At the moment he seems to shoot every time he gets near the box even when he has better options. I didn't see the first 20 mins and my stream went to **** in the second half but I thought Iwobi wasn't particularly good yesterday. And I think he's been a bit crap for a while.

He needs to improve if he is going to be a regular player for us.

Personally I'm looking forward to Mkhi and hopefully Boomerang joining and the likes of Iwobi and Welbeck ending up on the bench.

Just to add one more thing to this game. Lacazette REALLY needed that goal. Let's hope they start flowing for him now <ok>

Maybe the rumours of Sanchez destabilising the team has affected him. Mkhi coming in will potentially add to the creativity in our team. Throw in PEA then Wenger has his work cut out on where he plays these guys and construct a midfield that can supply the front line.

Wilshire, Ramsey and Xhaka have to step up big time with all that quality up front, otherwise I would cull the lot of'em in the summer.

Iwobi is always much better when Ozil is in the side. It seems like if Ozil is there, he gets more time and space and less attention, but then I think that is true of everyone at Arsenal.

Wilshere has been great as of late - he has stepped it up. He deserves a contract renewal IMO. Plus he's Arsenal through and through and there's never any doubt about his commitment.
Ramsey has under-whelmed for too many Seasons now. He certainly doesn't deserve to start games.
Elneny is nowhere near the standard. Needs to be sold.
I would keep Xhaka but he's not a DM - we need a genuine defensive midfielder in this side.

Wilfred Ndidi for me. Has a natural hunger for the ball. He'll win and give it. Very disciplined. He's young too. Won't cost too much. I think he'd be a shrewd signing

I don't know - I keep hearing this DM thing and I'm not buying it. We tend to let in goals from crosses, quick breaks and set pieces. None of them are really a DMs problem.

I don't think our defensive woes are due to poor DM play, I think they are due mostly to our wing-backs playing too narrow, leaving wingers too open, and inviting the ball out to the wing, and then a fairly average number of goals given up to set pieces, and a fairly average number of goals to being caught on the counter when we haven't got a CB with pace (Kos/Monreal)playing.

Even Wenger describes Xhaka as an 'offensive' player. He's not a DM thats for sure.

I genuinely think a proper holding player (ala Matic, Kante, N'zonzi) would allow our midfield to attack with more freedom and provide the defence with some security.

Maybe, but that is why a manager's life is cruel hard. Fork out for a new DM and find out that wasn't the problem after all, and then you may have an even bigger problem than before you started.

Why not revert to some of his old, tried and tested ways? He abandoned what made him so successful with Arsenal. We all talk about Henry, Bergkhamp, Vieira etc, but players like Gilberto at DM, allowed these guys to flourish. I know you defend Wenger but he's never got close to his teams before 2006. With or without money, Wenger has proved that his stubbornness has been his undoing. Had he addressed some of the glaring weaknesses, we would have won at least 1 or 2 PL titles since our last. We were so very close.
