It's always the same. You can tell from the first few minutes the attitude of our players and the type of game it's going to be.
I hate it when we start slowly, and I fear the worst from the off.
Sometimes we manage to get an early goal which opens it out, but when we don't it just turns out to be the same dire display as we saw last night. Clearly they think that they just have to keep probing and their quality will be the telling factor, but too often it just doesn't work out that way.

Tbf, we've seen many games like last night where Coutinho has been in the team and hasn't managed to turn it round anyway.
Far too often he's resorted to punting it into the stands from 20 yards out of frustration.

Anyone saying we are a million miles away from being a decent team.

Thats what I meant by complacency. It might be unconscious but it was there. Perhaps understandable. When you've beaten an "invincible" team running away with the title you expect an easy ride against the bottom team. But we all know that players should have been professional and guarded against that.

Sorry, I was out last night and haven't read back very far, so I'm probably going to repeat what others have already pointed out.

We've seen this attitude let us down for a long time.

I don't get why people question how we could beat Man City but not a Swansea. It's two very very different games with extremely different approaches. They're not comparable in any way, shape or form.

I also think it's harsh to blame Klopp despite it looking like he's not learning his lesson.

He said players didn't hold position, imo he's talking about Salah and Mane not staying wide.

Staying wide would have allowed them (with the FBs) to double up on the opposition FBs.

Them going central starved Firmino and the oncoming CMs of space.

Bobby couldn't even drop a bit deeper to let Mane or Salah exploit the space he'd create

Ultimately, Klopp is the man in charge so he will get the blame. But if what I'm saying is true, what can he do? He can't drop Salah and/or Mane can he?

He could shout at them and tell them to stay wide. He could do it a few more times and if they didn't listen chuck someone else on who would.

    Like who?

Lallana is **** from a attacking position (he's not great centrally atm either).

    Oxlade can't do both sides

could have done one of the sides though.

To be honest i thought he was too conservative. Team was so narrow he should have pushed the fullback forward.

Could have taken off either mane or salah if you didn't want take both off.

There was Milner, Lallana, ox and TAA who can play on the wing

    Idyllic thinking is easy though.

Imagine taking off Salah/Mane or both? Imagine doing that when you are losing. Then you go onto lose the match and everybody would be <doh> Klopp you took off our leading goalscorer and two of our most influential players when we needed a goal.

Managers up the top end are a bit arrogant and one track minded when it comes to change. They seem to think they have a point to prove about how great their formation is.

Like I said, I hope we approach Pool like Swansea did, we have a few better options on the break. However I expect Poch to play our usual attacking game and right into Pool's hands.

Klopp was extremely subdued by his standards. It was as though no-one wanted to be there, and that's just not good enough for a professional outfit.

I must say I'd be most disappointed if we don't beat you comfortably. You are exactly the type of team we like to play. Non defensive and play to win. You will of course score but we should be able to put more past you. 3-1 or 4-2.

we have seen a few... take west brom for one.

klopp played all 4 front guys.

    played Taa that night

70% possession 15 shots only 4 on target

the trend is too many pot shots after giving up on playing in or around back and most are way off target

    last nights stats

    72% possession 21 shots 4 on target.

    so there you go.

but we will STILL MISS HIM.

    <ok>

I think he gets very annoyed and goes this way.

IMO he should have been making subs far earlier and eating the bollocks out to those not trying enough.

Its like he accepts their ****e then shuts down and lets it happen at times.

If you watch 90% of our bad performances he looks the same. resigned.

better than nutting an opponent mind....

you did us at wembely by not attacking. you plonked a few balls over the top and lovren panicked.

IMO first goal in the game will be crucial.

Of course - I've never denied that.
I'm just pointing out that anyone thinking that having him last night would have guaranteed a successful outcome needs to remember the many similar games we've had where he's been equally as ineffective as the rest.
Width would have given us more options last night - repeatedly playing into a crowd was just brainless.
