VVD is one of these defenders who gets most of his credit because he's really good in possession of the ball. It's the thing these days to go for defenders who can play out from the back. But all to often defensive qualities are being overlooked. There are only 2 centre halfs in the world who I think are outstanding at both sides of the game and that's Bonucci and Ramos. VVD I still feel can be very clumsy defensively, as we've seen tonight.
Here's my thing. Every single midfielder is ahead of the ball and mane is one passing to can there. Midfielders need to be on ball, with the play not all ahead of it pretending to be centre forwards. Can... ox... wijnaldum first half... rubbish
