Lovely story, condolences for your loss, but your story encapsulates what football was in those day, with little money and the remnants of WW2 still prevalent for many, this was the interest, and entertainment, for many, wireless was still the pervading medium. It won't mean much of course to those brought up on the money sodden state of football today, but I am glad that I was part of that era of football, and City, the same as your Gran, RIP dear lady.

Thanks for posting your lovely nan's story Catkin, it's a very welcome distraction to the usual garbage that we City fans are currently having to contend with, and reaffirms that there's much more to life than modern day football and all of its ills.

And congratulations, Catkin. I'm pretty sure 52 'likes' for one post is a record for this board.

    What an irony you're a U's fan <applause>

Spent her whole life living on either Eastfield Road or Belgrave Drive - spent a lot of my summers playing in the tenfoot between the two!

Thanks for the kind words every - she really was the best. Some great memories. Nothing quite like being a child and spending four hours in the car waiting to be the first to see the Humber Bridge

Nice one Catkin, lovely story and I'm sorry for your loss. Best wishes from the great white north (though technically on about the same latitude as the Channel Islands).
